This weekend artists across Loudoun Countyopen their doors for you! On this free, self-guideddriving tour, visit the 68 participating artists intheir studios and guest spaces. We celebrate our11th year of introducing visitors to the amazingwealth of artistic talent located right here inLoudoun County.
WLAST is one of the only events where the public can see local artistswhere they work, experience one-on-one interaction, and view live artdemonstrations with professional and emerging artists.

Carrie wheel throws her pottery out of her farmhouse studio
and instructs adult classes at the Round Hill Arts Center. She is
an avid outdoorsman, which highly influences her pieces. You'll

and garden with an outdoor feel.
Offering on tour: Functional and sculptural pottery, demos, insights to various surface
treatments, chalk drawing and refreshments.
Directions: Rockland Farm is situated along Route 15 behind a row of pines. Turn onto Farm
Lane. Go to the back of the lane and bear left after the silo. We are the white farm house on the

Tan creates strikingly detailed oil paintings on both canvas and
linen. Her artwork is inspired by her love of nature, her farm in
Thailand, the gardens at her home in Virginia, and other parks
and gardens near her home from the Blue Ridge Parkway in
Virginia to Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania.

Susan turned her fondness for photography into a passion for
developing fine art digital paintings. With her photos as a
reference, Susan uses electronic tools — a computer, tablet,
and stylus that simulate actual painting — to create her digital
art. A long but rewarding process!

play a slideshow of my work on a computer.

For Dale, woodturning releases the natural beauty of wood.
Using a lathe and tools, he transforms a piece of tree into a
functional item or artistic piece that can be used and enjoyed
for many years. "Mother Nature has done all of the real work
and my job is to simply reveal it."
Offering on tour: Hand crafted artistic and utilitarian pieces.
Over 90% of these items are made from fallen trees in Loudoun.

turn left and stay on Foxcroft until you come to a Stop sign at Unison Rd., about 1 mile, turn left onto

Richard creates a wide variety of high-fired pottery: bowls,

Charlie Beach and Scott Carpenter, two local businessmen,
established Local Wood in 2009. Beach felt there was a need
to convert locally harvested trees and wood from old structures
slated to be torn down, into lumber to be used for furniture,
cabinetry, flooring, moldings, and other wood products.
Offering on tour: Custom furnishings, mantles, specie and millwork samples to make
your own vision a reality.

Steve Clegg's sculptures are forged copper pieces assembled
by brazing. He has larger sculptures that would go well above
the fireplace or smaller ones to jazz up an office desk. Each
piece is a unique creation. Lately he has been exploring pieces
that have moveable parts.

Liz creates functional and decorative fused glass pieces with
a focus on nature inspired themes. She finds great joy

Melinda is influenced by Asian arts and philosophies as well as
the Arts & Crafts movement's aim of integrating art into daily
life. Her pieces range from deep richly glazed and colorful

Ed and Claire Cutshall are a family team that focuses on
original designs in gold, platinum, and gemstone jewelry.
They specialize in hand carved lost wax casting to create

Geoff works with functional forms, primarily on the wheel.
He likes to alter some of the forms by pushing, pressing,
and cutting. A simple manipulation can transform surface
and shape. His intent is to have the interactions with his work
be visual, physical, and functional.

Lori's work is inspired from designs and textures found in
nature that are a part of our every day life. She uses
hammering and embossing to create pieces in silver and
brass embellished with glass beads, stoneware or porcelain
clay. Her ceramic jewelry is hand stamped to create
one-of-a-kind designs.

Gloria Eshelman is a potter, teacher, and studio manager of the
Round Hill Arts Center. She specializes in functional wheel-
thrown stoneware. Her goal is to make a pot that is structurally
sound, attractive to the eye, and balanced in the hand.

Bob started drawing in college while pursuing a doctorate in
theoretical nuclear physics. His very detailed rapidograph
drawings are inked entirely by hand. The themes of his work
range from naturalistic scenery to devices and mechanical
objects to science fiction and fantasy.

Corcoran School of Art and finds them perfect for her narrative

the fiber arts from raising fiber-producing animals to spinning,

Artists are located in studios and art centers across the countryside and inthe historic villages of western Loudoun County. Read about them in thisbooklet and on our website. Visit them in any order: favorite artists,favorite media, or by location.

Artists by Geographical Cluster
Use the four regions on the map to help you plan your route. On the mapin the center of this booklet, you will see that the listings and map mark-ers are color-coded by geographical cluster
The Catoctin cluster is in the northern part of the county — includingthe Town of Lovettsville and the Village of Lucketts — and features ninetour stops hosting 17 artists. A number of dining options are available inLovettsville, depending on the timing of your visit.
The Waterford cluster is centered on the Village of Waterford and features seven tour stops hosting 10 artists.
The Loudoun Valley cluster is centered on Purcellville and features tentour stops hosting more than 20 artists. Purcellville also offers a largenumber of dining options for your lunch or dinner during the tour.
The Snickers Gap cluster covers the westernmost part of the county —including the Town of Round Hill and the Village of Bluemont — and alsofeatures seven tour stops hosting 19 artists.
