Overview

The Authority is seeking prequalification for contractors interested in pursuing the U.S. Bridge Vault Electrical Feed Project.

The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority‘s continued success starts with our commitment to high-quality workmanship and strong contractor relationships. We truly value these relationships and consider each contractor to

be a vital part of our project team. It is our intent to select the very best teams to perform the construction services that will meet/exceed the Authority’s expectations. In order to maintain this high level of performance, we require all

potential contractors to be pre-qualified.

The Buffalo and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority will be evaluating the experience, skill, financial resources and

integrity needed to perform the type and size of work involved, by using a system of contractor prequalifications, prior to issuing the invitation to bid.

General Project Information

Project No.: USVAULT-ELEC-2018

Project Name: U.S. Bridge Vault Electrical Feed Project

Project Location: Peace Bridge Plaza, Buffalo NY

Detailed Project Description

The goal of the U.S. Bridge Vault Electrical Feed Project is to upgrade the current electrical infrastructure at the U.S.

bridge abutment (vault) to support new and existing power requirements both in the vault and on the bridge. This will be achieved by providing a new electrical feed to the vault from existing infrastructure in the adjacent R.F. Willson

Building.

This project generally consists of furnishing all labor, services, materials, supplies, equipment, tools, transportation,

and other facilities and items necessary or proper for or incidental to the U.S. Bridge Vault Electrical Feed Project. Select Progress drawings dated 6/26/2018 (which show the general scope of the work) are attached for your reference.

Major scope items include, but are not limited to, site preparation and installation of electrical infrastructure (including buried 4” conduits) and equipment and devices (including 480V electrical panels, transformers, and switches).

Accordingly, contractors shall have strong industrial electrical experience. Furthermore, a portion of the scope will be

performed in a confined space, and contractors are required to have training and means and methods as applicable.

It is anticipated that construction for the U.S. Bridge Vault Electrical Feed Project will begin in September of 2018 and be completed by October 31, 2018.

Please note that a subsequent contract will be let to upgrade existing electrical infrastructure in the R.F. Willson Building. However, due to schedule impacts, the U.S. Vault Electrical Feed Project must precede this upgrade, and

therefore tie into the existing arrangement.

It is imperative that operations within the facility continue with limited interruption throughout construction. As such,

close coordination with and construction schedule approval by the Authority will be required to ensure continued functionality of the site for the duration of work.

Because of the nature of operations at the Peace Bridge as an international border crossing, security is closely monitored. It is important that personnel assigned to the project will be able to receive clearance from U.S. Customs

and Border Protection without difficulty.
