Installing the patch and backing up Ionix ControlCenter

application

Use the following procedure to install the patch and backup Ionix ControlCenter hosts:

1. Download and unzip CC_4887.zip (Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Backup and Restore Utility) to a

temporary d irectory on the Ionix ControlCenter server, repository, store(s), StorageScope and API

server hosts.

2. Run Patch4887.exe.

Wait for the install wizard to start and follow the installation instructions to proceed .

3. Go to %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT% d irectory.

a. Check if a folder HF4887 is created.

b. Verify that the following scripts and files are available in the HF4887 folder:

backup.bat

LCUW_master_logtypes.emc

LCW_UI_Init.emc

regutil610.exe

regutil.pl

restore.bat

4. Go to %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ tools\ utils d irectory and check that the modified date for the file

regutil.exe is same as that of %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ HF4887\ regutil610.exe.

5. Backup all Ionix ControlCenter Rep ository, Store(s) and API Server hosts by executing the

backup.bat file from the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ HF4887 folder.

NOTE: Verify if the backup information has been generated by backup.bat in the d irectory

%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ tools\ utils\ BackupFiles.

6. Reboot the Ionix ControlCenter hosts.

NOTE: Rebooting the hosts will shutdown all the Ionix ControlCenter and Oracle-related services

and changes the start-up type to Manual. Verify that all the Ionix ControlCenter and Oracle-related

services are stopped after rebooting.

7. Manually backup the Ionix ControlCenter Server, Repository, Store(s) and API Server host data by

copying to a shared drive.

%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT% - Record the location of where you backed up this folder. It is required

during the restore process.

%RAMBBACKUPDIR% - Ionix ControlCenter Repository backup d irectory.

8. Manually backup all of the StorageScope host data by copying to a shared d rive.

%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT% - Record the location of the backed up folder. It is required during the

restore process.

Reports and Archives folders, if a WLA Archiver Agent is installed on this host.

%EMCSTSBACKUPDIR% - Ionix ControlCenter StorageScope Repository backup d irectory.

Any custom reports that are created and imported in StorageScope. The location of this

information is user-defined and needs to be backed up separately if it is not located under

%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%.

Once this is completed , the Ionix ControlCenter infrastructure is backed up.

9. Set all EMC ControlCenter services to be Automatic.

10. Proceed with the installation of the update bund le, start the following services:

OracleServiceRAMBDB

OracleServiceEMCSTSDB

OracleECCREP_HOMETNSListener

At this point, the system is ready for the deployment of the update bund le.

Procedure to restore Ionix ControlCenter application

NOTE: This section should be followed only if there is a failure during the installation of the Update

Bund le that requires storing the previous version of Ionix ControlCenter or during migration of Ionix

ControlCenter Hosts.

For Migration, refer to the Ionix ControlCenter migration procedure section in this document.

1. If applicable, stop all the running Ionix ControlCenter agents that are patched to this Update Bund le

level using the Ionix ControlCenter Console.

2. Uninstall any agents that are patched to this Update Bund le level.

3. Uninstall the Master Agent on each host where the Update Bund le is applied.

4. Close the Ionix ControlCenter Console on all hosts where it is running and then uninstall it.

Ionix ControlCenter migration procedure

Prerequisites Following are the prerequisites for migrating or recovering Ionix ControlCenter infrastructure:

Ionix ControlCenter components to be migrated or recovered should be at version 6.1.

Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 infrastructure should be at 6.1 base or any Update Bund le as mentioned in

Patch Overview Section.

The original and new hosts must have the same Fully Qualified Domain Network (FQDN) name.

NOTE: The migration is limited for the implementations based on DNS. Implementations that are

not using DNS are not covered by this procedure.

Console and Performance Manager Migrations are not supported.

If version 5.x was installed and later upgraded to a higher version, ensure that the IP addresses on

the new host matches the old host.

A quick review of the %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ data\ ecc_server.ini and the

%ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\ Repository\ network\ ADMIN\ listener.ora reveals the hostnames (or IP

addresses) that are bound to the installation.

If you have installed an agent host by using the IP address as opposed to the hostname, ensure to

update the ctg.ini and MGA.ini files.

If you are using multi-NIC, ensure to map the primary and any add itional NIC interface to the

FQDN of the original installation.

Ionix ControlCenter cluster implementations are not supported .

The target (new hardware) host name should be set identical as the source (former) host name with

FQDN.

The Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Planning and Installation Guide, Volume 1 P/ N 300-006-362, provides

information on the installation of the Ionix ControlCenter infrastructure.
