All persons working at or nearconveying equipment should be
instructed / Shown, the locationand operation of emergency
stop devices.

Except in emergencies, only authorizedpersonnel shall start or stop conveyor
equipment.
Operating personnel are not to attempt
repairs or adjustments to equipment.
Loose clothing or accessories shall not
be permitted in areas where suchclothing can be caught in moving parts
of equipment.

Conveyors must be properly loaded. Loadmaterial only at established loading stations.Place loads so they cannot fall on the
equipment.
Load limits of the conveyor shall not beexceeded.
Good housekeeping shall be maintained in thevicinity of equipment at all times.
All accidents resulting in personal injury or indamage to equipment or material as well asany irregularities in equipment operation shallbe reported promptly.

Do not wear loose clothing.
While climbing, carry tools properly sothey do not fall on someone.
Carry your own personalized locks for
locking out motor disconnects.After locking out a piece of equipment,check the start, jog and main consolepushing buttons and selector switches.
Always work in pairs.Do not play or loiter on or around
equipment.

Do not climb on conveyor, whether they are
running or not.
If a tool catches in a moving piece of
equipment, let it go. Tools can be replaced.Fingers, hands or arms cannot be replaced.
Never stick your finger in anything to checkoil level, gear position, depth, etc.

Operating and maintenance personnelshould become familiar with the materialbeing handled in the system along with thelocation and purpose of the safety devicesbefore being allowed to operate or work on
the equipment.
A belt conveyor safety training sessionshould be a portion of a comprehensive
safety program provided by the company toall employees that will be required to operateor maintain the equipment

All safety devices should be in good workingcondition, properly maintained and easily
Accessible. Emergency stop switch with safetypull cords should be mounted at the properheight.The equipment should be operated at its design
capacity and speed. Overloading belt conveyorsresults in spilled material and hazardous workingconditions and premature failure of components.
During and after maintenance on the equipment asafety walk around is recommended as a
precaution for leaving tools or work material priorto staring the equipment.

A formal maintenance and inspectionschedule should be developed andfollowed for the equipment andassociated safety devices .Required
personnel safety equipment such ashard hats, safety glasses, and steel toeshoes should be worn when in the area
of the equipment to provide any typeservice or work.

Manual inspection, maintenance or repairs
must bedone at a time the can be taken outof service ,properly lockout and tagged. Innocase should belt conveyors or anyoperating equipment be serviced while in
operation. Only visual inspection can bedone during operation and care must betaken to be at a safe distance and not bewearing loose clothing. Inching drives
provide an excellent method of visuallyinspecting the belting.
