competition and exhibition of Science
Models and Projects on 28th November 2019. In this competition
fifteen teams from different schools participated with great zeal
and exhibited their scientific temperaments with a concern for
sustainability and inclusivity. They presented working models
depicting different themes such as Water network, Pelton Turbine,
Clap Switch, Vertical axis wind, smoke exhauster, LED cube, Floor
Cleaning robot, Moisture detector, Digital clock and so on. The
event provided a platform for the budding students to give shape to
their innovative ideas and learn from each other’s
experiences.
The models were evaluated by a panel of distinguished judges Prof.
krishan Lal, Dr Meena Bhandari and Dr
Romila Manchanda drawn from the field of Science, Technology and
also from the Industry. The event was well organized by faculty

Visit to National Physical Laboratory
an educational trip to national Physical Laboratory was organized
by the School of Basic and applied Sciences for
the students of B. Sc., (Chemistry and Physics Hons.) and M. Sc.
(Chemistry and Physics Hons.) on 30th September 2019.
The visit proved to be a great way to arouse curiosity in the minds
of students and was a thrilling and motivating experience. The
visit helped the students to understand the values and assumption
inherent in the development and interpretation of scientific
knowledge such as the idea that science is a human endeavor that
seeks to understand the material. The students took a tour of the
following galleries: – recycling of e – waste, recycling of plastic
(mainly low density polythene and high density polythene), solar
cell lab, generation of electricity using green chemistry,
auditorium and library. The students were excited to observe
exhibits such as Recycling of E-Waste, Recycling of plastic,
Photovoltaic metrology lab, generation of electricity
using green chemistry.

VISIt to SunDer nurSerY
an educational tour to Sunder nursery, nizamuddin new Delhi was
organized by School of architecture and
Planning (SOAP) on 23rd October 2019 for the 4th year students as a
part of their curriculum of Site Planning & Landscape Design.
The aim of this visit was to make the students understand the
concept, planning and materials of the place. The faculty
accompanying the students was Ar. Shivani Singh. The Nursery has
eventually become a 90-acre (36 hectare) city park with distinct
heritage, ecological and nursery zones, as well as all the expected
facilities. It was originally established in the early 20th century
when the Imperial Delhi complex was being planned and constructed.
It was used as a place for propagating
trees and other plants to be used in the new capital city, and
also
for testing species brought from other parts of India and
from
overseas, to pick those which successfully thrive in Delhi’s
harsh climate. the aim of the Landscape Master Plan has been to
establish design relationships between these three major
uses by weaving a meaningful visitor experience through them,
traversing the site in a way that encourages and enables
appreciation of all three aspects and also offers opportunities for
recreation, education and discovery. Sensitive site planning
and landscape design would create spatial identities that overlap
and intersect but the distinctive identity of each component far
from being compromised, contributes vigorously to the whole. The
students were divided in groups and allotted with the above
mentioned topics and are told to prepare individual sheets for
representation
based on various landscape design elements & principles. they
observed various major elements such as levels,
Persian gardens, sunken gardens, 6 aSI protected monuments;
children play area, variety of native trees, shrubs
& bushes, grasses of Delhi. Overall, it was a great learning
experience for students through which they got opportunity to
enhance all the senses in a short while.
Workshop on Mosaic Murals Design ethos also conducted a tile mural
workshop on 29th
August 2019. Students of 1st Year & 2nd Year participated and
divided in groups. Each group came up with interesting concepts and
theme for their mural on a2 size MDf boards.
By end of the workshop students created beautiful pieces of mural
out of broken tiles with great enthusiasm. after this
workshop the students will have all the information needed to
complete own projects, from walls, to patios, to decorative
items.
In this workshop the students had a truly team experience to make a
mosaic mural, getting involved in the entire process
for creation and installation. This workshop is to arouse and
stimulate sensory development through the use of diverse textures
and colours.

at an appropriate location with improved connectivity. Group 2
understood the gender-based activities in the village and worked on
women empowerment by development of interactive streets and public
spaces and providing crèche cum vocational center for women. group

contoured
site and proposed drainage, filtration and usage of natural
resources. Development along east west slope is proposed along with
recreational activities. group 4 analysed the main spine of the
village and proposed activities
to enhance community interaction in alipur.
alipur is one of the many urban villages of haryana that has been
impacted by the rapid urbanization and
expansion of hubs like gurgaon, Badshahpur and Sohna. access to the
village is via gurgaon Sohna highway
that is also undergoing transformation. alipur also sits on the
edge of nature and urbanization with aravallis
on the west and a large water body, Jhod towards the lowest
gradient on the east. Historically, Alipur is known to exist since
1632 and is associated with the Mughals. The existing population is
a mix of Rathi and Dagar communities. The important buildings
include temples, chaupals (rathi and Dagar), schools (government
and
private), government welfare offices and a large open space that
has been allocated for a stadium.
