Informal conferences were held at the Capitol by some of the world war veterans looking: to the entering of vigorous protests at the White House against the nam¬ ing of Cramer to succeed Assist¬ ant Secretary Wainwright, who becomes a member of the House March 4. Leaders among former service men who are opposing Cramer are j hintins: at a Congressional inquiry! Into Cramer's administration of the legal branch of the Veterans' Bu-' reau and of alleged friction be¬ tween Cramer and other'bureau ex¬ ecutives. It was said that what action, if any. is to be taken would be determined at conferences with the soldier members of Congress .fter the >iolidays. It Is known that a number of specific complaints against Cramer are being investigated unofficially bv interested former service men.
