We live in Sydney - Rose Bay to be exact. Each night Jules and I watch the sunset across a wide expanse of Sydney Harbour. It’s heaven really. But we still often reminisce about all our favourite holiday spots!

There are the usual must-see and must-do’s that everyone wants from a holiday... you know - the beautiful Hawaiian Islands, we love island hopping, the hula and luau’s... we still can’t stop saying Aloha!

Or that really cool couple of weeks we spent living the high-life like two movie stars in the USA. We drove a RED Corvette convertible down the California Coast from San Francisco, to Malibu and Beverly Hills - it was just lovely. Then Jules and I did the touristy thing and drove across the border to that crazy town south of San Diego - Tijuana! Ahhh yes, Mexico... we now know why they call it a Tequila Sunrise!!! But, you’ll have to discover that one for yourself !

Yeehaa! Andalay, Andalay!

On our favourites list, as well, is our journey to the Canadian Rockies, a pristine

wilderness region just outside of Canada’s West Coast metropolis, Vancouver. They say it’s one of the world’s most liveable cities and I agree with that - it rivals many a city I’ve been to!

We ticked this off our bucket list once we joined an absolutely breathtaking trip through the snow-capped Canadian peaks. We went by the world-famous Rocky Mountaineer rail, sipping Chardonnay from the comfort of the domed “Gold Leaf ” dining car. Who knew you could just sit back and relax your way through some of the world’s most spectacular scenery in five-star luxury? And let me say, it was well worth it - in fact we are thinking of going again next June with our grand-kids!

We are joining our friends Kath & Ian next year to head a bit further north, up along the Canadian and US coasts for an Inside Passage cruise and a tour to Alaska! Jules and I missed out last time, and we have always wanted to see one of those so-called “Grizzly” Bears up close and personal... OK,

we’ll be satisfied if it’s from the comfort (and safety) of our portside cruise cabin!

You know, we’ve always been a bit adventurous, and Jules and I have an inkling to experience the famous World’s Deadliest Catch Voyage on the infamous crabbing vessel that we saw on the National Geographic channel the other night! It leaves out of Ketchikan in Alaska - we’ll be right there! But then again, I think Jules will be just as happy if we eat some of that amazing Alaskan King Crab (me too!).

That reminds me, we also have travelled on some delightful adventures through Central and South America. We’ve been a few times now, on many a memorable exploration. One of my all time favourites was our cruise up the Amazon River in Brazil. You have to see it to believe it - it is truely another world, out of this world!

I still can’t believe that there is an Opera House there! This one’s pink and white and in the middle of the Amazon Jungle! It’s in the city of Manaus and presents full opera and orchestra productions. Simply AMAZING! Believe it or not it’s a leftover relic built in the Belle Époque period when fortunes were made in the rubber-boom! Who knew!

Of course this man-made marvel is in contrast to the awe and beauty of the vast natural surroundings that completely envelops you into a visual and sensory overload! It’s a magnificent, very special corner of our planet. And yes, before you ask, we are converts - we need to save the rainforests!

On our first trip to South America, we kind of country-hopped a bit and visited a magical cabaret of cities. There was Buenos Aires in Argentina - simply Tango-central, we loved that! Then we went to Rio de Janeiro with its beautiful Copa Cabana and Ipanema Beaches! We discovered there really is a girl from Ipanema! Fabulous!

My favourite picture I have of Jules is when she wore a Carman Miranda fruit bowl hat! Hysterical - we still laugh about it. I guess it goes with my very Hawaiian shirt!

Oh, I must not forget to mention our spectacular trip to the Iguassu Falls, bang on the Brazilian and Argentinean border. It was breathtaking and VAST!

Jules and I have been to a few places now, and there’s much more on our bucket list - Peru’s Machu Picchu, there’s the gateway to the South America’s Antarctic regions, south of the Chilean border in Ushuaia Argentina. It’s known as the southernmost city in the world - a definate must for us.

Then there’s the fabulous fairy-tale rainforests and volcanic peaks of Costa

Rica, Guatemala and the Panama Canal - we haven’t been there yet! Then there’s the whole Caribbean for a myriad of sun and sand vacations, and just a bit further North for Jule’s life-long
