The trademarks used herein are the property of their respective owners. www.theclimateregistry.org Created October 2015 THE RITZ-CARLTON, MARINA DEL REY SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVES The Ritz-Carlton has developed an environmental responsibility strategy that includes: • Reducing energy and water consumption by 20% by 2020. • Increasing local and organic dining options by partnering with local farmers, growers, and seafood purveyors. • Sourcing environmentally preferred products. • Empowering hotel development partners to build sustainable hotels. • Engaging and inspiring employees and guests in conservation efforts. The hotel is committed to its responsibility to the environment, especially during California’s record-breaking drought. In an effort to reduce water use the hotel replaced all existing in-room toilets with high efficiency dual-flush units, saving an estimated 861,000 gallons of water annually. The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey hotel lobby The hotel has also taken an aggressive approach toward reducing its energy consumption. During 2014-2015, the hotel has completed energy efficiency upgrade projects totaling 1.5 million kWh in energy savings and reducing its peak demand by 186 kW. These upgrades included adding HVAC controls, installing electronically commutated (EC) motors in walk-in refrigerators/ freezers, installing variable frequency drives (VFD) on pool and spa pumps, installing LED lighting both interior and exterior, as well as upgrading the Building Management System. In 2016, the hotel is planning to continue its energy reduction efforts with additional HVAC controls upgrades generating an additional 500,000 kWh and a peak reduction of 50 kW. In 2015, The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey received the Cool Planet Award in the hospitality sector from Southern California Edison and The Climate Registry. The Ritz-Carlton, Marina del Rey
