The master plan provides major open space, stabilization of the riverfront area and an extensive walkway system, while offering the adjacent residential community an improved streetscape. Key features of the park include the “Learning Walk,” a 1,000- linear foot interpretive trail, a carousel, an interactive water feature and docking facilities. Awarded a Merit Award in 2000 by the Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, an Honor Award in 2001by the Tennessee Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects, an Honor Award in 2002 by the Southeast Regional Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects and received an honorable mention for Decorative and Durable Designs at the Concrete Pavement Awards in 2000.
