Cooling water treatment
When temperatures are high for example in cooling towers a matrix of different micro-organisms such as bacteria fungi EPS and algae can grow very rapidly The disadvantages of biofilm formation in cooling towers can be enormous
Therefore water used in cooling towers needs frequent treatment and chemical shocks to keep levels of micro-organisms to a minimum Algae can grow in the cooling tower itself and on the grids from the tower

Reduce Biocide The LG Sonic products prevent the formation of biofilm and algae which decreases the need for biocide dosage Besides that the reaction between chemicals and reagent is improved due to the presence of certain ultrasonic frequencies leading to a more efficient chemical treatment and thus a lower consumption

How does it work
Biocide reduction
When bacteria algae and biofilm are reduced as a result the dosage of biocide can also be reduced
Cooling towers that are being treated with LG Sonic generally have lower BOD5 and COD levels even when water with a high COD is being used as make-up water
Biofilm control
Biofilm formation starts by bacteria attaching to a surface The ultrasonic sound waves of LG Sonic create resonance around the solid surfaces within the water thereby preventing bacteria to adhere to a surface
Thus the rest of the life cycle of the biofilm is also being prevented EPS present in an existing biofilm is directly targeted degrading the biofilm
Algae control
Using scientifically proven frequencies selectively LG Sonic targets green and (toxic) blue-green algae
Components of algae cells within the range of LG Sonic oscillate on the sound frequencies This leads to tearing of different cell organelles such as the vacuolersquos tonoplast cell wall or membrane and the gas vesicles of blue-green algae
