Prior to mid 1990’s, geographic counter-cyclicality was evident …advancers & decliners occurred simultaneously
2001-2002 recession showed clear movement towards global synchronization, although many economies still had positive growth
Current recession solidified the interconnectedness of all economies; Depth of declines pushed most economies into negative growth
