Definition Of Copyright
• A copyright is a law secured for the creator of document. This law makes it so that the creator of the
document does not have to worry about having his work stolen.
COPYRIGHT DISCUSSIONPOINTS
• If it doesn’t have a copyright date, it isn’t copyrighted.
If it is posted to the Internet, It’s available for public use.
If you make up your own stories but base them on someone else’s work than your new work is yours.

• Fair Use- This means that if you are doing things like commenting or teaching than you can make some limited use without permission.
Is It “Fair Use” or NOT?
The individual who wants to use a copyrighted work must
follow these four factors.
• The purpose and
character of the use
• The nature of the
copyrighted work
Is it “Fair Use” or NOT?
• The amount and substantiality
of the portion used
• The effect of use on
the potential market
for the copyrighted
work
Permitted Uses
• Student use for projects, portfolios, ect.
• Educator use for curriculum based information
• Face to Face instruction
• Assignment to students for directed self-study
