  • Locations Coral reefs are usually located in clear tropical waters. Coral reefs are at least 150 ft. under water but to be formed they have to be pretty close to the sun. The reason for this is algae (the enemy of coral) grows faster than coral.To make a coral reef you have to have coral. The way you make coral is sun. If algae covers coral then well no coral reef.
