The learner is gifted with intelligence. The concept of intelligence evolved through the years.
There are seven more intelligences in addition to linguistic and mathematical intelligences.
1.Verbal- Linguistic Intelligence
These students have strong verbal, or language based, intelligence. They are often very good writers and public speakers. They have strong command of their language and how is used.
Ability to:
Speak effectively ( teacher, religious leader, politician) or write effectively(Poet, journalist, novelist, copywriter, editor)
2.Logical- Mathematical Intelligence
Students are adept at using numbers and solving mathematical problems.
They are logical and orderly thinkers who often enjoy sciences, computers, statistics and other mathematically based subjects.
Sensitivity to: Patterns Numbers Numerical
data Causes and
effects, objective and quantitative reasoning.
Inclination to:Finding patterns, making calculations, forming and testing hypothesis, using the scientific method,
deductive and inductive reasoning.
Ability to:
Work effectively with numbers (accountant, statistician, economist) and reason effectively (engineer, scientist, computer programmer)
3.Visual/Spatial Intelligence These students have strong visual reasoning and problem solving skills. They are often good artist and enjoy visual activities such as puzzles. They are likely to enjoy subjects that heavily involve visual elements such as architecture, art, photography, and graphic design.
Inclination to:
Representing ideas visually
Creating mental images
Noticing visual details
Drawing and sketching
Ability to:
Create visually (artist, photographer, engineer, decorator) and visualize accurately ( tour guide, scout ranger)
4.Bodily Kinesthetic These students are adept at hands- on learning and manual tasks. They often enjoy crafts, carpentry, mechanical activities, and may be athletic.
Inclination to:
Activities requiring strength, speed, flexibility, hand eye coordination, and balance
ABILITY TO:
Use the hands to fix or create ( mechanic, surgeon, carpenter, sculptor, mason) and use the body expressively (dancer, athlete, Actor)
5. MUSICAL INTELLIGENCE These students have well developed skills in the ability to create music and appreciation for the subject.
These students are likely to enjoy listening to music, performing music, and may respond well to learning through jingles.
ABILITY TO:
Create music ( song writer, composer, musician conductor) and analyze music (music critic)
6. INTERPERSONAL INTELLIGENCES
These students learn best when working with a group of others. They are highly effective communicators and can work well cooperatively in groups or with individuals.
ABILITY TO:
Work with people (administrators, managers, consultants, teachers) and help people identify and over come problems ( therapists, psychologists)
7.INTRAPERSONAL INTELLIGENCEThese students may appear introverted as they tend to be reflective and isolated in their thinking. They understand ideas based on their own experiences and opinions
INCLINATION TO:
Setting goals, assessing personal abilities and liabilities, monitoring one’s own thinking
ABILITY TO:Meditate, reflect, exhibit self- discipline, maintain composure, and get the most out of one self.
NATURALIST INTELLIGENCE
These students have a well- developed interest in the natural world such as in plants, animals, and the universe. They enjoy geology, biology, and other natural resources.
ABILITY TO:
Analyze ecological and natural situations and data ( ecologists and rangers) learn from living things (zoologist, botanist, veterinarian) and work in natural settings ( hunter, scout reflect on the meaning of human existence.
