Corinth Baptist Church Newsletter – October THE PASTOR’S PAGE - October We are now in full swing with our new church year and it seems that most positions and ministries are in place and going forward with the work at hand. However, there are a few things that are still needed, such as additional volunteers to work within the children’s ministries, team kids for both Sunday PM and Wednesday PM services. I have been praying that God will raise someone up to assist this important ministry. Will you seek Gods face and say, “Here I am Lord, send me?” I am writing this before we have our Men’s Rally on October 1 st . I have sent out over 60 letter invitations to our sister churches, and to date we have not received any response. I am praying and giving this effort over to the Lord. If Gideon was able to fight the 135,000 Midianites with 300 Godly soldiers, then Corinth Baptist Men will go to battle with the number the Lord gives us. Our Youth Day service on the 25 th of September was both inspiring and informative. We saw first-hand the response and involvement of our youth. The skits, songs and testimonies let our church family witness the potential and growth that our youth are experiencing in learning about and serving the Lord. We had both a great day and a wonderful experience on our Homecoming Sunday September 18 th . It seemed that all in attendance enjoyed the great special music presented by our Praise Band and the Choir, the presentation of the Word, and the covered dish lunch and fellowship. Our ongoing Sunday Night adult bible study is based around the Baptist Faith and Message. We have thus far studied our doctrinal stand on Scripture, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We shall continue on the other aspects of our doctrine during the ensuing weeks. Please make an effort to attend both the Wednesday night prayer meeting and the Sunday night bible studies. In the upcoming month, our deacons will be presenting a recommended list of names to serve on our Building project committee. They will also be presenting a recommendation that the church consider by vote to begin the planning process for the possible construction of a new sanctuary and instructional space. If you know of anyone that needs a visit or a contact, please call the deacon of the week or the church office and we will have someone contact that person. Spread the good news of Corinth on Facebook and other social media. Let us continue to run the race that the Lord has set before us. What a privilege it is to serve Him with You. Again, my thanks and my love are with you always. Philip Eakins Pastor

THE PASTOR’S PAGE - October

We are now in full swing with our new church year and it seems

that most positions and ministries are in place and going forward with the work

at hand. However, there are a few things that are still needed, such as

additional volunteers to work within the children’s ministries, team kids for

both Sunday PM and Wednesday PM services. I have been praying that God

will raise someone up to assist this important ministry. Will you seek Gods face and say, “Here I am

Lord, send me?”

I am writing this before we have our Men’s Rally on October 1st. I have sent out over 60 letter

invitations to our sister churches, and to date we have not received any response. I am praying and

giving this effort over to the Lord. If Gideon was able to fight the 135,000 Midianites with 300 Godly

soldiers, then Corinth Baptist Men will go to battle with the number the Lord gives us.

Our Youth Day service on the 25th of September was both inspiring and informative. We saw

first-hand the response and involvement of our youth. The skits, songs and testimonies let our church

family witness the potential and growth that our youth are experiencing in learning about and serving

the Lord.

We had both a great day and a wonderful experience on our Homecoming Sunday September

18th. It seemed that all in attendance enjoyed the great special music presented by our Praise Band and

the Choir, the presentation of the Word, and the covered dish lunch and fellowship.

Our ongoing Sunday Night adult bible study is based around the Baptist Faith and Message. We

have thus far studied our doctrinal stand on Scripture, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. We shall

continue on the other aspects of our doctrine during the ensuing weeks. Please make an effort to

attend both the Wednesday night prayer meeting and the Sunday night bible studies.

In the upcoming month, our deacons will be presenting a recommended list of names to serve

on our Building project committee. They will also be presenting a recommendation that the church

consider by vote to begin the planning process for the possible construction of a new sanctuary and

instructional space.

If you know of anyone that needs a visit or a contact, please call the deacon of the week or the

church office and we will have someone contact that person.

Spread the good news of Corinth on Facebook and other social media.

Let us continue to run the race that the Lord has set before us. What a privilege it is to serve

Him with You. Again, my thanks and my love are with you always.

Our new church year is in full swing with many opportunities for our Church! It’s great to be back in our routine and to see the children’s faces! We are thankful for a great kick-off of the TeamKID’s Upper Elementary group! Thank you to each and every person who has stepped up to serve the future of Corinth! It’s the children who meet on Sunday and Wednesday nights who will become world changers and who will be shining God’s light in our community!

We are so grateful for the love and support shown during our Summer Mission Blanket Project. The opportunity to deliver the blankets to the hospital was such a blessing for our children and an unforgettable experience.

Fall is such a busy season but we are anticipating good opportunities for our children to learn about God’s love and invite others to do so as well.

We have many upcoming events – please see below:

* Rose Hill Poultry Jubilee Parade – 10/7 – the children will ride in the parade, representing Corinth, TeamKID & share info about upcoming events;

* Sampson Community Theatre, Clinton – 10/16 – our children will see the play “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” performed by local actors. Cost is $8 per person and must be paid in advance.

* Fall Festival – 10/29 – many events planned for a fun-filled day;

* Sundays @ 5 PM – Children’s Christmas Play practice

ROSE HILL POULTRY JUBILEE PARADE: TeamKID’s will ride in the parade Saturday, 10/8. We will meet in the parking lot of Duplin Winery to load at 10AM. Please confirm riders with Shannon Jackson (910-284-7130). TeamKID volunteers to ride as chaperones will be greatly appreciated!

“JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT” -- Sunday, October 16, at Sampson Community Theatre, Clinton. If you plan to have your child attend, please see Shannon Jackson. Deadline to sign up and pay for ticket is October 9. Tickets are $8 per person and must be paid in advance. Concessions are sold separately for $1 per item.

FALL FESTIVAL: the fall festival planning team has been working hard planning & preparing for Fall Festival! The team has new ideas to make this year’s Fall Festival the best one yet! It will be an all-day event on Saturday, 10/29. With activities for all age groups, attendees can enjoy food, BINGO, games, volleyball tournaments, corn hole tournaments, cake walks, classic car cruise-in, and trunk-of-treats, to name a few! We hope to shine light on a holiday that is filled with darkness & evil. We hope that Corinth can be a go-to for our community to have safe, family filled fun while giving an opportunity to simply love one another in spite of differences. Let this be a time to step out in a mighty way for our community!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: we desperately need our church members to step up and volunteer in many areas:

*Fall Festival has many opportunities – GAMES (minimum 30 minute increments but more is appreciated); TRUNK-OF-TREATS (volunteers to decorate trunks & pass out candy); HAYRIDES; KITCHEN CREW; GREETING TABLE; SET-UP CREW; CLEAN-UP CREW; SIGN-UP FOR TOURNAMENTS; BRING YOUR CLASSIC CAR; DONATE: water bottles, 2-litre drinks, cakes;

PUMPKIN DECORATING FUNDRAISER: Each year Sunday school classes submit a carved, decorated pumpkin for Fall Festival. This is a fundraiser the children sponsor each year. The winning pumpkin is determined by which class raises the MOST amount of money. Each year the money raised sponsors Christmas for a student listed on the Rose Hill Magnolia Elementary School Angel Tree. It provides an opportunity for a child to get a few things they need (clothes, jackets, shoes, etc.) and a few things that they want (toys, games and wish list items). Please start saving your money now to participate in this fun fundraiser! Sunday school classes, don’t forget to start planning your pumpkins! Pumpkins should be at the church before noon on October 29! Call Shannon (910-284-7130) if you have questions or concerns.

RECIPE CONTEST: Corinth Cooks, get your recipes ready! Our annual Chili Cook-off and Pumpkin Recipe Contest is coming October 29! Each year during our Fall Festival the chefs of Corinth get to show off and put their recipes to vote! Fall Festival attendees will get the opportunity to sample each dish and vote for their FAVORITE recipe. The most votes wins the Chef a blue ribbon! If you plan to enter a recipe in either or both categories, please notify Shannon Jackson (910-284-

7130)!
