CORPORATE HISTORY
Interior Design
In order to streamline projects we offer in house Interior Design Services
SPACE ANALYSIS AND PROGRAMMING
As a component of the programming phase of a project; we distinguish a client’s operating
requirements of how the space will be used and how people will move through the space;
we consider the client’s design objectives and we adhere to their scope and anticipated
outcome. Establishing this information through site verification is critical for appropriate
planning.
SPACE PLANNING
Equipped with information from the programming phase of the project, Cornerstone Design
can sketch preliminary design plans that outline room locations and adjacencies, and show
how the new area arrangement will offer better workflow and more efficient work spaces.
INTERIOR DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
We make interior spaces functional, safe, and aesthetic, by working closely with clients to
cultivate color schemes, visual themes, and materials and finish selections. We can also
design custom millwork to meet the client’s needs.
DECORATIVE LIGHTING AND FURNITURE SELECTION
Cornerstone can offer services for the selection and specification of decorative lighting and
furniture.
ARTWORK, SIGNAGE & ACCESSORIES
Artwork, signage and accessories bestow the final touch to an environment. Cornerstone
Design can give our clients a broad range of style choices, due to our experience and
particular skill in this field.
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS
After the space plan, millwork, interior finishes, furniture, decorative lighting, artwork, signage
and accessories have been approved, an official construction drawing set can be
developed. These drawings are then used for bid purposes and finally for construction. Plans,
elevations, details, schedules, legends, and specifications are included in this drawing set.
CORPORATE HISTORY
Computer Capability
In our desire to stay on the cutting edge of technology, we have utilized Autodesk® Revit®
Architecture since 2006 and have fully integrated Building Information Modeling (BIM) into
our architectural design process. Revit® represents the next generation in computer aided
design. It melds the 2D and 3D worlds and creates a comprehensive database that
describes the proposed building. Revit® allows us to design, visualize and document in a
more coordinated way with greater productivity and more accurate and complete
construction documents. We are able to three-dimensionally model the structural,
mechanical, and electrical building components and incorporate them into our
architectural model. In addition to Revit®, we utilize Adobe® Photoshop® software to
produce photo-realistic renderings and animations. Both interior and exterior models can
be generated to show perspective views. The use of computer generated renderings
enables visualization of various materials and finishes to enhance one’s visualization of the
proposed design throughout the entire process. We are also fully AutoCAD® capable and
can import and export AutoCAD® drawing files to our Revit® (BIM) platform as needed.
Green Design Services
As the need for more environmentally conscious design has emerged in the design and
construction industry, the need for architects to respond to the vision of our client's needs
has increased. Sustainable design is not only a responsive process intended to mitigate the
impact of buildings and their corresponding sites on the environment, but sustainable
design also meets the needs of the occupants of buildings and spaces. Utilizing concepts
such as natural daylighting, indoor air quality monitoring, and providing interior lighting and
thermal controls serves to enhance the experience of building occupants.
Although we have submitted numerous projects for LEED® certification which are in their
final stages, our approach is to apply green design principals where it makes economic
and/or represents the client’s desire to be good stewards of our natural resources. We no
longer provide services for a LEED® accredited professional to lead the submission process.
Our mission is to responsively and creatively design facilities of significance. If our client's
vision includes incorporating sustainable design principles, Cornerstone Design-Architects
will lead the design team in finding solutions that respond to our client's vision and
intentions for their facility. We also believe that designing facilities that consume less
energy, reduce overall operational costs, and minimize their impact on the surrounding
environment is the correct approach to design and an approach that creates a more
enjoyable space to occupy.
