Principal’s Report We are very proud of our four students who were recognised on Friday the 16 th November at the annual ‘Proud and Deadly Awards.’ Jameah Ost, Manyana Ost, Lachlan Dolan and Mackenzee Dolan received recognition for excellence and their achievement. Jameah and Manyana attended the ceremony. Organisation 2013 I received notification last week, that at this point, the position of Principal will be advertised during Term 1 2013. The successful applicant would assume duties as of the beginning of Term 2, 2013. I have accepted the opportunity to continue to relieve as Principal until this process is finalised. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with such professional staff and delightful students. I value the support, patience and understanding I have received from our parent body. Staff have begun organisation for 2013. One element that is underway is the allocation of students to classes for next year. Our classes are determined by the number of students in each grade. As a small school, we have limited flexibility on the structure. We will be having the following classes for 2013; K / 1 = Mrs McDonald 1 / 2= Mrs Taylor 2 /3 /4 = Mrs Read 4 /5 /6 = Ms Andrews (Term1) Staff consider a lot of factors when determining students’ allocation to classes. If you feel there is a sibling or educational factor you would like staff to consider when making these decisions, please contact either your child’s teacher or myself. Swimming Scheme Our K-4 students began their ‘Learn to Swim” program yesterday. I commend our boys and girls for being so well organised with their notes, money and swimming gear. It was wonderful to see all the children being so ‘Sun-Safe’ and applying sunscreen, wearing their hats and bringing their rash shirts! It was also inspiring to see the Year 4 students caring for and assisting our younger students with getting changed and packing their bags. Our students do really look out for each other. The students were assessed yesterday and allocated to a swimming group with a similar skill level. Below is a breakdown of the groups and the levels they are working toward. Dear Parents,

Principal’s Report

We are very proud of our four students who were recognised on Friday the 16

th November at the annual ‘Proud and Deadly

Awards.’ Jameah Ost, Manyana Ost, Lachlan Dolan and Mackenzee Dolan received recognition for excellence and their

achievement. Jameah and Manyana attended the ceremony.

Organisation 2013

I received notification last week, that at this point, the position of Principal will be advertised during Term 1 2013. The

successful applicant would assume duties as of the beginning of Term 2, 2013. I have accepted the opportunity to continue

to relieve as Principal until this process is finalised. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with such professional staff

and delightful students. I value the support, patience and understanding I have received from our parent body.

Staff have begun organisation for 2013. One element that is underway is the allocation of students to classes for next year.

Our classes are determined by the number of students in each grade. As a small school, we have limited flexibility on the

structure. We will be having the following classes for 2013;

K / 1 = Mrs McDonald 1 / 2= Mrs Taylor 2 /3 /4 = Mrs Read 4 /5 /6 = Ms Andrews (Term1)

Staff consider a lot of factors when determining students’ allocation to classes. If you feel there is a sibling or educational

factor you would like staff to consider when making these decisions, please contact either your child’s teacher or myself.

Swimming Scheme

Our K-4 students began their ‘Learn to Swim” program yesterday. I commend our boys and girls for being so well

organised with their notes, money and swimming gear. It was wonderful to see all the children being so ‘Sun-Safe’ and

applying sunscreen, wearing their hats and bringing their rash shirts! It was also inspiring to see the Year 4 students

caring for and assisting our younger students with getting changed and packing their bags. Our students do really look out

for each other.

The students were assessed yesterday and allocated to a swimming group with a similar skill level. Below is a breakdown

of the groups and the levels they are working toward. Please share with your child their how their lessons went and the

skills they are learning.

Personal Development Day

Today, Year 5/6 students travelled to Savernake Public School to attend a Personal Development Day with other local

schools students. This wonderful opportunity to interact with other students was a valuable learning experience for our

older students. They examined relationship and other aspects of growing into a young adult. I commend our boys and girls

for their maturity, politeness and eagerness to learn.

“Get Hooked”

Year 5/6 will be heading to Mulwala to participate in a fishing workshop with NSW Fisheries and then to Brimin Murray

Cod Hatchery. Fishing is a popular recreational activity in our local area and it’s important that we learn how to incorporate

this activity in an environmentally sound manner. Thank you to the parents who have offered to come along and assist us.

Having assistance to remove caught fish from the hooks has made me very ‘happy.’ I remind students to ensure they return

all notes and monies. They need to bring food and drinks, wear full sports uniform with ‘joggers’ (Closed-toe shoes), wear

a hat and apply sunscreen

Parent Helper’s Afternoon Tea – We would like to show our appreciation to our parents, grandparents and community

helpers by inviting them to Afternoon Tea at the school on Tuesday 11th

December. If you have helped out at the school

in any way this year, please join us at 2.15pm in the school library. RSVP to the school office would be appreciated.

Book Fair Thank you to all students and families who generously supported our Book Fair last week. We hope the children enjoy

reading their new books.

As a result, we were able to choose books to the value of $455, free, for our library. These new books will be accessioned

shortly and will be available for borrowing by the students in 2013.

Creative Catchment Kids – Book Launch

The following students have been invited to the book

launch- at Corowa Civic Centre on Wednesday 28th

November: Mac McFarland, Jameah Ost, Simon Craft,

Mackenzie Rolls, Leah Raschke, Susie Monk, Kealie

Jordan and Sarah Dyson.

Students will make a short 3 minute presentation on their

book . Students will reflect on their journey over the year

and what they have achieved. The books will be displayed

as an Ebook whilst they are presenting. Each

school/student on this day will be presented with a copy of

their printed book.

We are very proud of the students achievement and look

forward to reading the story of the Diamond Firetail, in our

school garden.

P & C News

There will be a P & C meeting on Monday 10th December,

LIBRARY NEWS - Borrowing for Term 4 is now finished. HAVE YOU RETURNED YOUR LIBRARY BOOKS?

Please check your bookshelves at home for your Library books (they are very

good at hiding) and return them to the Library as soon as possible, as the end

of Term 4 is fast approaching.

Please encourage your child to look after their Library books. Any books that are

not returned or are damaged beyond repair will need to be replaced or paid for

by the borrower.

Most children have borrowed consistently this Term which is great to see.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
