Dear Friends, For more than seventy-five years, United Way of New York City (UWNYC) has been a critical partner to the business sector in creating long-lasting social change in our City. Our expertise in community solutions, unique convening power and influence on policymaking have been vital to the success of our shared vision: to build a New York City where all individuals have access to quality education and the opportunity to lead healthy and financially secure lives. UWNYC corporate partners join a diverse network of business leaders that strives to transform New York City into a city of possibilities. Our Corporate Citizenship Program provides employers and employees with unique exclusive benefits, ranging from employee engagement and leadership development to opportunities for elevating your brand. Because this is a partnership, we expect our members to hold themselves accountable for making change, setting milestones and tracking progress toward our shared goals. Through active participation in our Corporate Citizenship Program, affinity groups, events and volunteer activities as well as asking questions, sharing insights and best practices, our corporate partners positively impact communities in the City we all love. Thank you for your dedication and inspiring collaboration. Please continue to let us know how we may build an even more resolute partnership and make New York City strong!

About United Way of New York CityThere are 8.4 million people living in New York City. Over 25% of these New Yorkers are struggling to cover the basics, including housing, food, childcare, savings, taxes and healthcare.

Based on over 75 years of service and our unique vantage point at the intersection of business, government and nonprofits, United Way of New York City (UWNYC) is ready to implement a strategic solution to this crisis. By 2025, through a collective impact approach in neighborhoods of concentrated poverty, UWNYC will help 50,000 New Yorkers make measurable progress toward self-sufficiency—the ability to meet basic needs without public or private assistance.

Our Approach in Action The Path to Self-Sufficiency

Achieving self-sufficiency is the first step toward prosperity. Our work aims to move New Yorkers toward self-sufficiency by addressing both immediate and long-term needs around education, income and health as well as increasing nonprofits’ capacities to serve their communities. Ultimately, we will leverage our successes to achieve citywide policy and system changes that will help all low-income New Yorkers.

With our corporate and community partners, we use a Collective Impact Approach:
