Mission Statement:Meditech International Incorporated initiated research into the development of Low Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT) Systems in 1989. Our primary objective has always been to significantly improve/cure the multiple pathologies that we encounter in the shortest possible period of time. Meditech’s mission consists of the elimination of pain, reduction in the use of pharmaceuticals, the restoration of normal mobility and quality of life.

Executive Summary:The company was founded by Fred Kahn, M.D., FRCS(C), whose vision was to develop and manufacture superior Low Intensity Laser Therapy Systems. The synergy developed between the disciplines of engineering and clinical medicine has allowed us to achieve those objectives. Our product line continues to become diversified in order to deliver therapy at multiple levels and has been characterized as the “New Dimension in Medicine.” At our rehabilitation clinics, which administer over 800 treatments each week, we continue to develop new protocols in order to improve and widen the application of the therapy.

BioFlex systems are operative in over 34 countries worldwide and have been termed the gold standard in the industry. The company continues to extend the applications of the therapy and create more comprehensive educational programs. In addition to the clinical studies that we conduct, we host Certification Courses, Advanced Seminars and International Symposia, in a variety of formats. Educational programs are now held on an almost weekly basis.

The Technology:Light emanating from a variety of sources has been used for healing since the time of the ancient Greek and Egyptian civilizations. The monochromatic and coherent characteristics of the therapeutic light beam, permit penetration through multiple tissue layers, including periosteum and bone, without affecting normal cells. With ongoing advances in the engineering of devices and the development of appropriate clinical protocols for effective therapeutic application, dramatic benefits are achieved in the treatment of many complex medical conditions.

Physiological Effects of LILT:Physiological Effects of LILT:SShort-Term Effects•• Production and release of beta-endorphins (these are morphine-l ike substances produced by various cells in the body that inhibit the sensation of pain).•• Cortisol production is increased (cortisol is the precursor of cortisone). This enables the body to combat the stress associated with trauma or the disease process.•• The short-term effect is significant in 5-10% of cases during or after the conclusion of the initial treatment but is not as important as the long-term or cumulative effect.

The Advantages of LILT Technology

“LILT is one of the most underutilized pain management options available today. Once incorporated by our patients, it is typically one of the most appreciated treatments based on its tolerability and cumulative efficacy. The BioFlex System presents a comprehen-sive, easy-to-incorporate approach for intro-ducing low intensity laser therapy to patients with pain by curing the pathology.” Robert Bonakdar M.D. Director of Pain Management Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine La Jolla, CA

BioFlex systems utilize superluminous and laser diodes of speciBioFlex systems utilize superluminous and laser diodes of specifi l th d t tfic wavelengths and power output uup to 2,000mW to irradiate abnormal tissue with photons. These particles of energy are absorbedbby a variety of intracellular organelles, a process which initiates a number of positive physiological rresponses. In essence, light energy is converted into biochemical energy, facilitating the restoration oof normal cell morphology andy function. The result of this process is designed to be curative with rregard to clinical pathologies, rather than modulating symptoms, the conventional approach utilizedin the management of pain.

The Advantages of LILT:The Advantages of LILT:•• Non-invasive•• Highly effective•• Non-toxic•• Cure rate > 95%•• Easily applied•• No known adverse effects

- 3 - -

Effects of LILTLong-Term/Cumulative Effect• Increases ATP levels which improves cellular metabolism• Enhances DNA replication, resulting in cell division (replacement of damaged cells)• Regulates cell membrane potential, which controls permeability (i.e. Na+, Cl-, Ca2+, K+ ion transmission)• Stimulates protein synthesis, providing the building blocks for new cell production • Elevates levels of serotonin and acetylcholine facilitating neurotransmission• Vasodilation – relaxation of smooth muscle in blood vessels, which improves arterial circulation and therefore tissue oxygenation• Angiogenesis – development of new arterial channels (capillaries, arterioles, etc.)

Additional Effects• Immune response stimulated• Lymphatic drainage improved• Histamine response is positively altered• Production of growth hormone increased• Accelerates the body’s natural healing process

The positive physiological changes noted above, result in tissue regeneration and improved cel-lular function. Many other activities are also modulated, including the beneficial effects on both humoral components and the cerebro-spinal fluid.

Fred Kahn, MD FRCS (C) President and CEO Meditech International 411 Horner Ave, Unit #1 Etobicoke, Ontario Canada

Dear Dr. Kahn,

Thirteen years of medical practice in Internal Medicine has taught me much. A great deal of my satisfaction comes from an effort of curing some and comforting all. If there have been any frustrations other than the insurance companies, it would be thatalthough I can often diagnose, I can't always treat the condition well.

As you know, there are limitations to our training of westernized medicine. As it pertains to disability from pain, inflammation, injury, and degenerative disease, we often work from conservative to aggressive. Well-intentioned actions as simple as prescribing anti-inflammatory medications can lead to stomach ulcers or kidney failure or simply fall short of goals. Physical therapy often temporizes a situation but requires the patient to comply with a routine long after formal sessions end. Cortisoneinjections often help, many times only temporarily, but accumulate in the system and put people at risk for osteoporosis, cataracts, diabetes, or acute bone necrosis. Early in my training I believed surgery was sometimes the only way to cure certainproblems. Later, through observation and experience, my belief changed to respect that surgery can beget further surgery, and itoccasionally does not go as planned (infection, anesthesia complications, bleeding, nerve damage, etc.); it should be prescribedjudiciously.

I vowed to "First, do no harm." In so doing, I've often asked myself, "Is the cure worse than the disease?" I found myself telling patients that living with their pain is better than the likes of narcotic or muscle relaxer addiction, or recommending surgery on a frail 93 year-old, for example. I even explored and became open to alternative therapies for my patients and saw some benefit from chiropracty, acupuncture, herbal remedies, and even spiritual healing. Although the harm factor remained low, there are also great limitations to these modalities.

And so, I wish to thank you for helping me to discover what I believe I have been searching for these past years: an option for my patients that can offer them relief without toxicity, return of function without surgery, and hopes of an end to the downwardspiral of disability feeding on depression and deconditioning that propagates further disability, depression, and deconditioning.

Low-intensity laser has helped a number of my patients, has hurt none, and pales by comparison to the cost of other therapies and procedures. For the first time in my career I can tell patients there are no known side effects to my prescription. In our clinic we have successfully treated patients with spinal stenosis, nerve impingement syndromes of the neck and low back, arthritis (both rheumatic and degenerative), post-herpetic neuralgia from shingles, sports injuries, frozen joints, repetitive motion trauma, fibromyalgia, migraines, TMJ, bursitis and tendonitis, only to name a few. I tell patients the light is indiscriminate: It does not know where the problem is; it does not have inherent health benefits; but the specific wavelength absorbed by abnormal tissue will create a positive and noticeable response that leads the body into healing itself. Surprisingly to me, I havenot yet met a patient who has not received benefit from this therapy. With that, it's exciting to imagine where the research willlead next.

Empiricism is the knowledge gained from experience. It didn't take me long to experience the limitations of my training. Similarly, with low-intensity laser and the Meditech BioFlex system, it didn't take long to experience the great benefit it provides to many of my patients, some of whom are suffering chronic pain syndromes or have no other foreseeable options. Seeing truly is believing. Developing a healthy skepticism was taught to me on the first day of medical school; as it stands, I can honestly say that I have great difficulty holding any skepticism about laser therapy with your system. I can promise you that Iwill do what I can to further the movement to bring this therapy into the mainstream - where it belongs - and look forward to sharing more heartwarming success stories about my patients.

Sincerely yours,

Jason Reed, MD Internal Medicine Minneapolis, Minnesota USA
