Who we areCavotec is a multi-national group ofcompanies serving the followingindustries: mining and tunnelling, portsand maritime, steel and aluminium,energy and offshore, airports, generalindustry and automation. In the early1960’s our main focus was the designand production of motorised cable reelsprimarily for manufacturers of towercranes, harbour cranes and miningequipment. Today, Cavotec is connectingmobile equipment around the world inmany diverse applications.

Where we areThe Cavotec Group consists of 7manufacturing “Centres of Excellence”located in Canada, France, Germany,Italy, New Zealand, Norway and Swedenand by 5 local manufacturing unitslocated in Australia, China, Germanyand the USA. For the distribution ofproducts and providing support tocustomers Cavotec has 27 salescompanies which, together with anetwork of distributors, serve more than30 countries in five continents. The ultimate objective is to be perceivedas “local everywhere”.

Mining and tunneling are two traditionalfields for Cavotec Specimas cable reels.Since the early seventies they have beenpresent in the mining industry in Swedenand are currently at work all over theworld installed on drilling jumbo’s, tun-nel scaling equipment, loaders, reclai-mers, stackers and service vehicle trip-pers.

With the ever increasing lift heights andspeeds of modern cranes the traditionalbasket cable solution has become nearlyobsolete. The level wind spreader reelsare the accepted solution for this newgeneration of high speed container cra-nes. The level wind motor-driven cablereels developed by Cavotec Specimas arefitted with frequency inverter torquecontrol and several advanced cable ten-sion devices.

Panzerbelt is a unique flexible systemdeveloped to cover cable channels andconductor-bar slots. Its construction fea-tures a steel reinforced rubber belt thatcan withstand cross-traffic of vehicles.Developed over the past 20 years andwith nearly 500 applications worldwide,this patented system provides long term,trouble-free operation with a minimumof maintenance required.



Slipring columnsManufacturer: Cavotec Specimas

Transfer of electrical power and signalsduring rotation is accomplished by ourwide range of collectors columns.Featuring unique multi-contact patentedbrush-gear, extensive use of stainlesssteel parts and very compact design,they have set the standard for others tofollow.

Special slipring columns for high voltage,high amperage or for applications requir-ing customized designs can be supplied.

Sliprings ESK and GSKManufacturer: Cavotec Alfo

Cavotec Alfo is a well-known manufac-turer of high quality slipring collectorsdesigned to transmit power and signals.Designed to save space these slipringcollectors can be mounted either verti-cally or horizontally.

As an extra security measure the CavotecAlfo collectors can be fitted with a pro-tective cover that ensure these productscan be used in the most severe workingenvironments.

Rotating electrical connectorsManufacturer: Mercotac and Eletca

Mercotac connectors combine mercurywith compatible metals to form highlyreliable rotating electrical connections forup to 8 channels. Their high integritymakes them well suited for highly sensi-tive circuitry used in robotics, video anddigital signals.

Aurotac connectors, manufactured byEletca, are ideal for transmitting signaland control circuits in applications whichneed high revolutions, low noise emis-sions and low resistance.

In some countries these products are distributed through local agents.



Electrical connectors – low and medium voltageManufacturer: Cavotec Connectors

Cavotec connectors are designed to beused in harsh working environmentssuch as mines, steel works and maritimeapplications. The range starts at 100Aand goes up to 600A 1kV, and the con-nectors can supplied with either electri-cal or mechanical interlocking.

Optionally these connectors can be deli-vered with our own standard panels fit-ted with short-circuit breakers. The pro-duct range also includes multipin outletsfor control cables with a maximum of 50pins and 15 Amps.

Electrical connectors – high voltageManufacturer: Cavotec Connectors

Cavotec supplies a complete range ofhigh voltage plugs and sockets whichprovide a flexible and convenient meansfor connecting or extending powercables to mobile equipment such as cra-nes, generators and mining and tunne-ling equipment. The working voltage isup to 15kV and the units are rated up to500Amps.

Nylon and steel cable chainsManufacturer: Brevetti Stendalto

The nylon cable chains manufactured byBrevetti can be used in thousands of dif-ferent configurations to solve the pro-blem inherent to guiding cables andhoses to and from moving equipment.

In addition to the more traditional nyloncable chains, Brevetti Stendalto hasdeveloped a series of high-resistant steelchains ranging from a few cables on a50 mm radius, with low weight, tochains containing multiple cables andhoses bending on radii of 2-10 meterweighing up to 20 tons.

Power chainsManufacturer: Brevetti Stendalto

Power Chains, manufactured by Brevetti,are an innovative and cost effectivealternative to festooning systems andconductor bars. With this system, powerand control cables are carried, safely andfully protected, by a nylon chain, overlong travelling distances and at highspeeds.

EEx Radio remote controlsManufacturer: Cavotec Micro-control

The MC 3000 EEx developed by CavotecMicro-control is the first ever EEx radioremote control to obtain an ATEXapproval. It provides a secure and flexiblecontrol of many different types ofmachinery.

The MC 3000 EEx comes with severaltypes of communication, for radio con-trol: 433 MHz to 443MHz and for cablecontrol: RS-422 and RS-485

WIBE AB has been manufacturing cablemanagement products since 1935, andhas become a leader in this field. WIBEhas developed an unique closed profileto provide low weight and high pointloads.

Gessmann manufactures a wide range ofsingle and multi-axis joystick controllers,foot pedals, seats and cab units for usersand manufacturers of cranes and mobilemachinery.

Above-ground supply systemsManufacturer: Cavotec Fladung

Cavotec Fladung is a world leader indesigning and manufacturing advancedabove-ground supply systems for aircraft.

The complete range comprises cablecoils, cable winders, scissor systems andthe Cavotec Caddy. This last unit is asystem specifically designed to supplypower, water and air to the aircraft whilekeeping the surrounding tarmac apronfree for other vehicles.



Aircraft connectorsManufacturer: Cavotec Fladung

Special aircraft connectors have alwaysbeen an important part of the CavotecFladung range. To meet the ever increas-ing demands of the airport industry,Cavotec Fladung has developed a new400Hz connector. With significant improvements in 4 keyareas with regards to the existing unit,this new 400Hz connector was becomethe natural choice for industry operatorsworldwide.

Under-ground supply systemsManufacturer: Cavotec Fladung

By placing all essential services such aspower, pre-conditioned air, water andcompressed air below ground, the tar-mac apron above is kept completely freefor other vehicles to approach.Connector is made through the hatch-type and pop-up systems which are posi-tioned close to the aircraft parking posi-tion.

This type of system allows for very fastservicing of aircraft without the need forlarge ground crews or auxiliary vehicles.

TowbarsManufacturer: Cavotec Fladung

Specially designed towbars have sincemany years been an integral part of theCavotec Fladung range. Thanks to theirinnovative design features and high stan-dard of manufacture Cavotec Fladungtowbars are capable of towing all typesof aircraft from major manufacturerssuch as Boeing, Airbus, Tupolev, Ilushynand Saab. The range also includes a spe-cially designed towbar for the new A380from Airbus.

With mounting environmental concerns,ports around the world are starting toforbid ships to run their engines whenmoored. To solve this problem theCavotec Group has designed ship-basedand shore-based power supply systemswhich enable a ship to dock, connect tothe system and switch of its engines.

Automating the mooring process repre-sents an entirely new field of marinetechnology. The Cavotec MoorMasterhas captured all of the flexibility andcharacteristics of traditional mooringlines while using vacuum instead of ropeto fasten the ship to quay.

Thanks to the Cavotec MoorMaster,mooring a ship now takes only a fractionof the time needed previously and canbe done by just one person.
