Rev. Fr. Patrick J. Callan

Born 12 June 1935

Ordained a Priest 3 June 1961

Rest in Peace 8 August 2020

In the quiet of the night, Our Lord called home to heaven our beloved Father Pat. He came to Corpus Christi 7 years ago after retiring from being Pastor at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, Point Lookout. He had been Pastor in two other parishes, including St. Anne’s in Brentwood from 1985-1994, where he was born and baptized as a child. Father Pat lived here in Mineola during the 1970’s, when he was caring for the sick as a hospital Priest-Chaplin (when he wasn’t on the golf course!). He always loved the rectory life with his brother priests, and always felt the love of our staff and parishioners who embraced him. Father Pat was constantly available for Mass and Confession, even as his health declined. He leaves behind one sister Catherine, and two brothers Bernie and John, along with several nieces and nephews. May his Irish-born father & mother, Catherine and Bernard, welcome him home to paradise!

Labor Day is an opportunity to take stock of the way’s workers are honored and respected. As Pope Francis pointed out, "Work is fundamental to the dignity of a person. . . It gives one the ability to maintain oneself, one's family, to contribute to the growth of one's own nation."

For many people today, especially the poor, or those who may be unemployed or underemployed, the struggle to support their families is a daily battle. Please consider supporting the Catholic Ministries Appeal which supports the programs and services that assist families and individuals struggling in our communities.

PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A GIFT TO THE 2020 Catholic Ministries Appeal! Every Gift Makes a Difference in the Lives of Others.

Português XXII DOMINGO DO TEMPO

COMUM
