PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Lord of the Harvest, we petition you as you have instructed us to ask for more laborers to serve in the vineyard of your Church. You have told us that the harvest is rich and laborers are few and we experience this great need in the face of the challenge of the New Evangelization. We ask the Holy Spirit to inspire young men and women to seriously consider vocations to the priesthood and religious life. Help all of us to be effective instruments to encourage and support those whom you are calling to serve and lead the Church of Brooklyn and Queens in the future. Lord, you told the Apostles to put out into the deep. We ask for the grace and courage to re-spond to your call as we pray and work for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and reli-gious life. We ask this in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Great High Priest, Amen.
ANNUAL VOTIVE CANDLES
Lighting candles is an honored tradition here at Cor-pus Christi and is really a much welcomed form of prayer. Votive or Vigil lights signify prayer to God or one of the Saints on behalf of someone, an inten-tion, or our prayer for a deceased loved one, or our-selves. The candle keeps vigil, or watch, and contin-ues day and night as a symbol of our ongoing prayer for the intention or the person.
Many people light a candle every week, but don’t always get around to it for whatever reason. If that someone is you, you may wish to consider participat-ing in the Corpus Christi Annual Votive Candle Pro-gram.
A donation of $100 will ensure that a Votive Can-dle will burn daily in Corpus Christi Church for 52 week to memorialize your intention. Donations can be made at anytime during the year at the Rectory office.
VELAS ANUALES VOTIVAS

SIGNS IN JOHN--EPIPHANIES OF THE ROYAL WEDDING
John the Evangelist describes the turning of water into wine at the wedding in Cana as the beginning of the signs that Jesus would perform to manifest God s glory. Beginning here means more than first in a series. The beginning points to the source of all the signs in that royal wed-ding of divinity and humanity in Jesus as the Word become flesh, elevating and transforming everything it touches. The wine that Jesus pro-vided was better than the water that had previ-ously filled the stone jars, and it was better than the wine the guests had already been drinking. Early Christian writers saw in this transfor-mation of water into wine an anticipation of Jesus transformation of wine into his own blood. The epiphany at Cana shows us how to become participants in that great wedding of divinity and humanity. Cleansed in holy waters and sharers in the wine that has become Christ s blood, we too can be transformed into signs of God s glorious love. Today s Readings: Is 62:1 5; Ps 96:1 2, 2 3, 7 8, 9 10; 1 Cor 12:4 11; Jn 2:1 11 Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co., Inc.
