Nursery News
Since March 11th the Nursery chil-
dren have nurtured five caterpillars
and on Wednesday, we released
them as butterflies in the orchard
area of Cotteridge Park. This has supported our theme of ‘New life’ and has introduced metamor-
phosis to our youngest learners.

3E Class Assembly
3E shared the hor-
rible side of histo-
ry with their as-
sembly on the An-
cient Egyptians.
With jokes, angry
pharaohs and even
a demonstration of
mummification.
They did them-
selves proud!
Year 6 Bake Off
In Y6 this week we have had our WW2 biscuit
baking competition! Over the last few weeks,
our teams of bakers have designed their wartime
recipes and packaging for their products. Our
judges were very impressed with all the biscuits
they tasted, the
presentation and the
packaging produced.
Well done to all of
our pupils!
Sports Update Netball Netball player of the week: Jessica 5A Result: Cotteridge Team won the High 5 netball tournament. The team won all of their matches and brought the cup back to Cotter-idge. Well done to all the team for excellent teamwork and commitment. Football On Thursday, our football team played in 2 cup fixtures against Bournville and St Edwards. In the last 16 tie against Bournville, a first half blitz of goals resulted in a 5-1 victory. In the Quarter-Finals, after a tough opening period, the goals finally came and we won 8-0. We have now progressed to the Semi-Finals, which will be played after Easter.
European Elections
Unfortunately we have received the following information from the councils election department. The late notice of school being used for voting is a source of concern to us but unfortunately it is out of our control. Therefore, school may be closed for voting on Thursday 23rd May. Please see the information we have received from the council be-low. The Government has now laid an Order in Parliament enabling the UK to participate in the European Elec-tions on Thursday 23rd May 2019 if the country has not left the EU by 22nd May 2019. School will need to close if the elections go ahead.
The Great Pasta Challenge
Yet again, we have
been overwhelmed by
the generosity of the
parents and children of
Cotteridge School and
on Thursday afternoon
we were able to donate
a massive 410 kg of
pasta to the B30 Food-
bank. A huge thank
you to all those who
donated pasta, sauces and other essential food items and
congratulations to the winning classes 4T and 2S, who
enjoyed an afternoon of a movie and popcorn!
