Achieve year on year reduction in MRSA levels expanding to cover other HAIs as data from mandatory surveillance becomes available. There is a public commitment to halve the number of MRSA infection rate by March 2008.

Each acute trust with more than 12 MRSA bacteraemias in 2003-04 will be expected to achieve either a 60% reduction in the number or a maximum of 12 infections in 2007-08
