Policies and procedures may change during the season, but we will do our best to keep you informed as information is received by the school district, league, and USA swimming. We appreciate your patience. When registering for the team, we expect that all swimmers and divers will attend a minimum number of practices each week and be available to participate in 3 of the 4 divisional dual meets in November and December. Also, parents will volunteer to help work at the meets and with the many volunteer positions that are needed. If your family does not feel that they can commit to these expectations, please do not take a space away from another family that is prepared for the level of commitment that we are requiring. I have posted this yearscoaching staff on the website under the coaches and board directory tab. We are still finalizing the staff and expect to add additional coaches. I will update the website as coaches are hired and each of their roles are confirmed. If you have any questions please email me at [email protected]. COUNCIL ROCK SWIMMING AND DIVING CLUB 2021-22 Season

GENERAL INFORMATION

Council Rock Swimming & Diving Club (CRSC) is a part of the Council Rock Community Aquatics Program. It is an age-group swimming & diving team that emphasizes a balance of competitive swim/ dive training and having fun. The main

focus of our program is to achieve perfect technique, while the swimmers & divers learn sportsmanship and teamwork. We compete in the Suburban Aquatic League and are a member of USA Swimming. The season runs from

September until February (after championships).

MISSION STATEMENT The goal of the Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club is to instruct, nurture, and encourage our athletes to high levels

in the sport of swimming and diving. The coaches will provide the athletes a challenging and rewarding experience promoting hard work and commitment. Our coaches’ will provide leadership that builds teamwork and self-confidence.

The objective of the Council Rock Swimming and Diving Club is to develop well-rounded swimmers and divers in an atmosphere of good sportsmanship and team spirit.

FACILITIES

The CRSDC practices at Council Rock High School- North off of Swamp Road in Newtown, Pa. The North swimming pool was renovated in 2008. Its features include a 7 lane, 25-yard competition pool; Omega timing system with 7 lane

scoreboard; 2 Duraflex diving boards; desert air ventilation system and filtration equipment including ultraviolet technology.

REGISTRATION/ SCREENING/ TRYOUTS

Registration for new and returning swimmers and divers is different. For information on:

Returning members: please go to page 2 of this packet.

New Members: please go to page 3 of this packet.

WHY TRYOUTS?

Tryouts are conducted for two reasons.

First, the coaching staff wants to be sure that the swimmers and divers are team ready. For the divers, they must have

basic swimming ability to be safe in and around the pool. They must have the willingness to try the dives and take direction from the diving coaches. For the swim team members, the minimum requirement is for the athlete to swim

Freestyle and Backstroke the length of the pool (25 yards) with correct breathing and arm stroke. Specifically, they should not lift their head when they breathe when swimming Freestyle.

Second, due to limited spaces in the swimming and diving meets and to properly provide a safe and effective training program, we must limit the amount of swimmers and divers we are keeping on the team. We do not have a specific

number that we are keeping each season. We are looking at the overall numbers, genders, age-groups, etc. to try to keep the most swimmers and divers as possible.

It is recommended that if you are interested in being a swimmer or diver that you come to tryouts and we will steer you in

the correct direction.

The COVID-19 pandemic has presented athletics across the world with a myriad of challenges concerning this highly contagious illness that primarily attacks the upper respiratory system. Some severe outcomes have been reported in children, and a child with a mild or even asymptomatic case of COVID-19 can spread the infection to others who may be far more vulnerable.

While it is not possible to eliminate all risk of furthering the spread of COVID-19, Council Rock School District will take necessary precautions and comply with guidelines from the federal, state, and local governments, CDC, PA DOH, PA DOE, as well as the NFHS and PIAA, to reduce the risks to students, adults, and their families. As knowledge regarding COVID-19 is constantly changing, CRSD reserves the right to adjust and implement precautionary methods as necessary to decrease the risk of exposure for our staff, students, and spectators. Some precautionary methods in the Council Rock School District Athletics Health & Safety Plan 2020 include but may not be limited to:

1. Health screenings prior to any practice, event, or team meeting with participation in the activities being limited and/or prohibited where an individual displays positive responses or symptoms.

3. Intensify cleaning, disinfection, in all facilities when use is permitted. 4. Educate Students, parents, Adults, and Staff on health and safety protocols. 5. Require Students and Adults to provide their own water bottle for hydration.

By signing this form, the undersigned voluntarily agree to the following waiver and release of liability. The undersigned agree to release and discharge all claims for ourselves, our heirs, and as a parent or legal guardian for the student named below, against CRSD, its Board of Directors, successors, assigns, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers and will hold them harmless from any and all liability or demands for personal injury, psychological injury, sickness, death, or claims resulting from personal injury or property damage, of any nature whatsoever which may be incurred by the student or the undersigned relating to or as a result of the student’s participation in athletic programs, events, and activities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The undersigned acknowledge that participating in athletic programs, events, and activities may include a possible exposure to a communicable disease including but not limited to MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19. While particular recommendations and personal discipline may reduce the risks associated with participating in athletics during the COVID-19 pandemic, the risk of serious illness, medical complications and possible death does exist.

We knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, even if arising from the negligence of others, and assume full responsibility for student’s participation in athletics during the COVID-19 pandemic. We willingly agree to comply with the stated recommendations put forth by CRSD to limit the exposure and spread of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases.
