uncountable nouns

Countable nouns – počítateľné podstatné

mená Počítateľné podstatné mená môžu byť v jednotnom čísle alebo v množnom čísle:

This is an apple. (singular)

I love bananas. (plural)

S počítateľnými podstatnými menami používame:

1. čísla: one banana, two bananas, three bananas...

2. neurčitý člen a/an - ktorý používame v jednotnom čísle

I want a banana.

There is an apple.

Pokiaľ sú počítateľné podstatné mená v množnom čísle, tak neurčitý člen

nepoužívame:

I like bananas.

S počítateľnými podstatnými menami v množnom čísle môžeme používať

some, any, many a few na vyjadrenie množstva:

We sing some songs.

We take many photographs.

I have a few things to do.

Uncountable nouns – nepočítateľné

podstatné mená

Nepočítateľné podstatné mená majú len jeden tvar a nemôžeme s nimi používať čísla:

I eat rice every day.

I like milk.

S nepočítateľnými podstatnými menami nesmieme používať neurčitý člen a/an

Takisto sa u nich netvorí množné číslo pomocou prípony.

Používame s nimi some:

I would like some salad.

I would like some rice.

Počítateľné - countable

1. Živé bytosti - ľudia a zvieratá (a

son, a mum, a father, a boy, a

girl,.....)

2. Predmety ( a house, a book, a

car, a table, a chair, a pen...)

Nepočítateľné - uncountable

Jedlo a materiál – látka ktorá sa

sype, prelieva - (milk, juice,tea

coffee water, salt, sugar, flour,

butter, air, pasta, cereal, meat,

snow, food, music,fruit, spagetti,

glass, wood, paper...)

Nepočítateľné

väčšinou kupujeme

v obale – fľaša,

kartón, krabica,

pohár...
