After 11 years of co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood leading the show, for the 53rd annual event it was announced that Underwood would serve as host, joined by guest hosts Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton. From the show’s opening moments on Wednesday, Nov. 13, which featured McEntire, Parton, and Underwood collaborating on “Those Memories of You,” a song made famous by Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris on their 1987 album Trio, the evening’s performances showcased the decades of inuence of the female voice and perspective on country music. This year’s CMA Awards ceremony was billed as a night that would focus on the contributions female artists have made—and are making—to the country music genre. After 11 years of co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood leading the show, for the 53rd annual event it was announced that Underwood would serve as host, joined by guest hosts Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton.

Jordan Davis jumps from No. 3 to No. 1 this week on the MusicRow CountryBreakout Chart with “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot.” Co-written with Lonnie Fowler, this is the third single from his debut album Home State.

Davis will kick off his headlining Trouble Town Tour on Jan. 10. The tour will visit 20 cities including New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Denver, with more dates to be announced soon. Kassi Ashton and Hailey Whitters will join Davis on the trek.
