Why Become An Instructor?

Each and every day, you will help students discover the confidence and skills they will need to become in demand electrologists. The demand for permanent hair removal is steadily increasing. An estimated 41 million women in the USA report having unwanted hair last year! At the same time the number of electrology schools has dwindled to fewer than 10 nation wide! There is a drastic shortage of electrologists, electrology schools, and definitely QUALIFIED highly trained instructors. Recent surveys show hair removal to be a growing $91,000,000,000 industry! Is there really anyone who does not have unwanted hair? Consumers will turn to other hair removal methods if we cannot provide QUALIFIED electrologists for their communities. Help others discover the difference that electrolysis can make.

Why Choose River Rock?

Our very complete curriculum includes 150 hours of fun theoretical and practical hands-on training in teaching all four modalities. Thermolysis (flash and manual), Galvanic, and the Blend as well as Phoresis. We also include Red Cross certification in CPR and First Aid, and certification in body waxing at no additional charge as needed. 100% of students trained by our instructor passed their Board exams the first try! Our instructor is a trained educator, not just an electrologist. Ensuring you more effective, relevant training with less busy work. Executive Summary River Rock Electrology Institute

We pride ourselves on our all new curriculum designed to help you learn HOW to teach adult learners effectively not just how to finish 150 hours of training! We include a special focus on the skill sets students need to effectively reach and motivate adult students and a solid background in all four modalities of electro epilation. Our program is designed to meet Wisconsin State licensure requirements of 150 hours of training as well as prepare students to take the new state certification examination. All Prospective Student Teachers will be required to pass an initial evaluation of their theoretical and practical electrolysis skills before they will be accepted to the Instructor Training Program. A live model will be supplied by the Institute for this on-site evaluation. Instructor Training is held at various times as determined by the Student’s scheduling needs. The Supervised Teaching experience (40) hours must be held in conjunction with the Electrologist Training Course (ETC). ETC Class is held Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The total program time is approximately 58 in-class days. We also custom design and deliver a course plan with up to 1600 hours to satisfy any state's training requirements and so we may be able to offer the Supervised Teaching training outside of the current ETC course schedule. If you have specialized needs, contact the Institute and we will work with you to design a program to meet your training goals. Dr. Hilary Bennett, Ph.D, RE, CPE, an education expert, leads our classes.

The theory and concepts of teaching are fully explored in the classroom comprising 110-hours of the total 150-hour course. Lecture, labs, discussion and fun activities give the student a broad picture of all areas pertaining to teaching this specialized field. A thorough business and marketing unit is designed to assist the students in developing and maintaining a successful business in compliance with State and National regulations and standards. The newest IRS and State law and code are also presented. The Institute is located in a private practice setting conveniently located in historic Menomonie, Wisconsin, only 45 minutes from the Twin Cities. The practice setting provides a real life window into all aspects a successful working school and practice. Students not only learn about what a successful Electrologist does, they experience it first hand. Our classes are kept small—no more than four students to ensure a maximum of teacher contact time and only one Student Teacher per session. We believe the field of electrology is ready for a new kind of Electrologist, one that is business savvy and technically superior. This program will provide all students with the skill sets needed to successfully pass licensure examinations and to begin their new career with confidence.

Tuition Comparison to Wisconsin State Technical Colleges Current Tuition and Material Fees

Not only can River Rock offer certification in a shorter amount of time, but also for less money. Tuition at technical colleges while significantly less than that of other colleges and universities, is still considerably higher than at River Rock. The new tuition costs beginning in summer 2004 are the same for each of the 16 technical colleges:

Wisconsin residents Degree, diploma, and certificate programs - $76.00 per credit Liberal Arts Transfer program - $103.00 per credit

Out-of-state residents Degree, diploma, and certificate programs - $488.10 per credit Liberal Arts Transfer program - $299.80 per credit Other fees Books are an additional cost, as are other tools you may need for particular programs. You may experience other incidental fees, depending on which college you choose and the particular program you enroll in. As you can see, River Rock Electrology Institute tuition is quite reasonable.

Refund Policy The River Rock Electrology Institute, in accordance with State Law, sets forth the following refund policy. All requests for cancellation of the Enrollment Agreement and settlement of the student’s account must be made by the student and in writing to the River Rock Electrology Institute.

Credit for Previous Training

Students who wish to be exempted from part of our training program due to previous course work or life experience may be granted partial credit up to 96 credit hours. Credit for previous training may be given if the prospective student attended a licensed or accredited school and that school furnishes a written document detailing the content and hours of previous training received at that Institute at the discretion of the Institute Administrator. All students are required to do their practice teaching (40 hours) and a minimum of 14 hours of theory training on-site.

Candidates Trained Out-Of-Program Wishing to Sit For Wisconsin Board Exams

The State of Wisconsin regulates the practice of electrology by licensing its electrology schools and by requiring candidates to pass a licensure exam. Students who have been trained at a non-licensed school/or training program, in or out of state, who wish to take the Wisconsin State Board Exam for electrologists or electrology instructors must prove that they have received training that is the equivalent of what they would have had at a state licensed school so they are properly prepared to pass their board exams. If a candidate received training outside the Institute we have established a two-part process. First the Institute will determine if the State required time and subject requirements have been met for Electrologists and then for Electrology Instructors. This is not an evaluation of the quality of the previous training merely the appropriate quantity. The candidate must submit course records and transcripts detailing the subjects taught, the hours of practical and theory training in EACH subject area, and grades for each. The River Rock Electrology Institute will evaluate the course records without charge. If the student appears to have met or exceeded Wisconsin State requirements for 450 hours of training in the appropriate subject areas and with the appropriate allocations of time, and has the required 2,000 hours of documented practice, and is requesting and evaluation of transfer credits toward Electrology Instructor training (not more than 96 hours will be accepted) then the Institute will allow the candidate to sit for an on-site assessment. This is the second step. The candidate will be required to pay an assessment fee of $400 for the on-site assessment. The candidate will be given a written and practical assessment in person at the River Rock Electrology Institute that is commensurate with the final exams our students would

take. If the candidate passes the assessment, they will be allowed to enter the Instructor training program. Upon successful completion of

the program, they will be able to sit for Wisconsin State Board Exams.

Employment Advisory Services No guarantee of employment is made to the student. When written or verbal requests from an employer are received, referrals will be made, but these referrals may not necessarily be based on any direct contact with representatives of the prospective employer. Students will not be referred to an employer who does not first contact the Institute and indicate a desire to employ a graduate or prospective graduate of the Institute. No further employment advisory services are offered except to thoroughly discuss with the student all possible job options available in the field of electrolysis and to present an academic unit on the basics of starting a practice.
