1.2 PROJECT MANAGEMENT APPROACHES: TRADITIONAL, AGILE, LEAN

The course provides Project Management principles and tools in the various approaches, from Waterfall to Agile, with investigation of Lean practices for the management of project and non-project activities. The main aim is to provide participants with a solid base to select and apply the practices best suited to the specificity of the individual contexts and projects.

The course is intended for all those who, in various ways and with various levels of experience, are interested in comparing the different approaches of Project Management and/or who are coping with transition phases towards new development and management methods with the related challenges.

The programme is structured into three modules:

2. BUSINESS ANALYSIS

2.1. IQBBA® FOUNDATION LEVEL

The course offers the Foundation level of the “Certified Business Analyst” (CFLBA*) certification established by IQBBA®, which concerns the professional positions involved in Business Analysis (BA) applied in an IT context.

Each project begins with a business need. Each need must be explored, analysed and converted into a solution. This is the field in which a Business Analyst acts. The success of the project depends on his capacity and experience; it takes specific skills to identify needs, transform them into requirements and propose solutions.

Business Analysis and Requirements Engineering are complementary disciplines that must be knowingly addressed and applied in each business organisation, whose objectives include optimising the value produced. Business Analysis concentrates on discovering market needs and identifying the changes needed in an organisation, to allow it to achieve the ensuing objectives. These changes include actions on the company strategies and policies, structures, processes and IT systems to produce value.

IQBBA provides a certification scheme that assures a full understanding of the business processes carried out within an organisation, identification of the necessary changes and preparation of feasibility studies together with risk analyses, identification of the business needs and determination of solutions to the related problems.

The IQBBA® Foundation certification preparation course is aimed at passing the IQBBA® Foundation certification exam. During the course, therefore, various queries are proposed and discussed in relation to the certification exam and a practice exam is held on the morning of the third day. As a rule, on the afternoon of the third day, a certification exam can be taken in the classroom, by prior agreement with ITA-STQB.

3. REQUIREMENTS ENGINEERING

IREB®, the International Requirements Engineering Board, is a non-profit organisation that supplies CPRE (Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering) certification. Created in 2006, IREB® has set itself the aim of creating an internationally accepted and professional basis for Requirements Engineering. Since then, the organisation has become world famous for its certification: the CPRE (Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering), developed over three levels and intended for professionals working in Business Analysis, Requirements Engineering and Testing.

ALTEN Italia is an accredited partner of IREB@, allowing it to offer targeted training courses for two levels of “IREB® Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering” certification: Foundation & RE@Agile.

By way of a more in-depth approach to the IREB® Foundation level, ALTEN Italia offers an advanced course: Advanced Concepts of Requirements Engineering.

3.1. IREB® FOUNDATION LEVEL

The course, aimed at passing the IREB® Foundation Level certification exam, focuses on the development and management of requirements, aimed at adopting a common language and spreading awareness of best practices in Requirements Engineering, recognised internationally.

3.2. IREB® RE@AGILE PRIMER

IREB® RE@Agile Primer explains the basic level of the “CPRE* RE@AGILE” certification established by the International Requirements Engineering Board (IREB), which concerns the professionals involved in Requirements Engineering (RE) applied in an Agile context.

RE@Agile Primer explains how Requirements Engineering is an essential, fundamental component in an Agile IT context and how the Agile approach effectively fosters Requirements Engineering focused on value for the client. Its content highlights the classification and application of artefacts and Requirements Engineering techniques in Agile organisation and the correspondence of Agile techniques and artefacts with the elements of Requirements Engineering that are essential to product development. RE@Agile Primer therefore aims to encourage the use of Agile methods in a development process.

The Preparation for the IREB® RE@Agile Primer certification course is aimed at passing the IREB® RE@Agile Primer certification exam. During the course, various questions are therefore suggested and discussed in relation to the certification exam and, on the morning of the second day, a practice exam is held. 4. SOFTWARE TESTING & QUALITY ASSURANCE

ISTQB® (International Software Testing Qualification Board) offers the world’s most widely-used scheme for Software Testing certification. To date, it is present in more than 100 different countries, and in June 2015, it reached and exceeded a total of 410,000 certifications, with a trend of over 15,000 new certifications per quarter.

Aimed at passing the ISTQB® “Advanced Level Test Manager” certification exam, it is an advanced course focused on the specific role and contribution in the test life cycle.

The Advanced Level Test Manager certification is focused on the assessment, planning, monitoring and verification of test activities. At the end of the course, the Test Manager will have the tools to:

6. AGILE METHODOLOGIES

Since 2001, when the Manifesto for the Agile Development of Software was published, the number of companies that have adopted Agile development methods for their software applications and projects has continued to rise.

ALTEN Italia is an accredited trainer in Italy for the “Introduction to Agile development with SCRUM” course.

6.1. SAFE AGILIST (LEADING SAFE)

The Leading SAFe ® 4.5 training is a two-day training. During this training, participants learn how to lead an Agile transformation by using Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe) with the underlying principles of Lean and Agile thinking during the entire product development process. The training discusses the principles and the practice of Lean-Agile programmes, scaling up Agile, the Lean/Agile programme and portfolio management and the leadership that contributes to a successful transformation. After completing the training, participants will be prepared for building a wholly Agile organisation.

The Leading SAFe training is intended for those who are involved in upscaling Agile within their organisation. This training fits every role in that kind of transformation, whether a participant is responsible for a product, a programme or a portfolio, and whether a manager, a consultant or an executive. The training does assume fundamental knowledge of Agile, preferably supplemented by ample practical experience.The one-day course focuses on the following subjects:
