The GOTAFE National Centre for Dairy Education (NCDE) is the Dairy industry’s own provider of education and training. We’ve partnered with Dairy Australia to bring you the latest research and industry information. Our courses are endorsed by the Dairy Council of Australia, and Australian Diary Farmers, so know we’ll provide training targeted to your needs. We offer courses across dairy farming districts Victoria-wide, through the NCDE, you don’t have to leave the farm to do your training.
The GOTAFE National Centre for Equine Education (NCEE) is a specialist training centre offering everything you need in our world class facilities. The NCEE boasts an international sized Equestrian ring, stables, quarantine area, stallion barn, and wash and tack rooms. Caring for horses’ health and wellbeing is a unique talent. Whether you work in breeding, performance or general care, or want to specialise in dentistry or vet nursing.

Fryers St, Shepparton (SH)
Located in the heart of Shepparton, the Fryers Street campus is the administrative hub of the Institute. The Campus also boasts world class facilities that reflect real life situations for students including a Day Spa & Hair Salon, Library, Commercial Kitchen, Bakery and Restaurant, plus Automotive and Engineering workshops. This campus also includes the Shepparton Skills & Jobs Centre.
William Orr, Shepparton (WO)
William Orr is a 120 hectare property on the outskirts of Shepparton. The campus features the William Orr homestead, a historic building constructed in 1896 and still in use today. It is the site for Agriculture, Horticulture, Building, Plumbing and NCDE Dairy Farming.
Benalla (BEN)
The Benalla Campus is a modern building with excellent facilities including Clinical Skills Laboratories with patient simulation for our Health students. Plumbing, Building and Outdoor Recreation are also taught on-campus.
Seymour (SEY)
Seymour Campus is located in the heart of Seymour and is easily accessed via regular train and bus services. Students benefit from a modern environment and enjoy a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Our Training Restaurant, Shearers and Commercial Kitchen regularly hosts dinners and luncheons for community groups.
Docker St, Wangaratta (WD)
Wangaratta’s Docker Street Campus is the hub of training in the North East region. It houses The Tower training restaurant and offers students a friendly, relaxed study atmosphere with a central area for students including Cafeteria and Library. This campus includes the Wangaratta Skills & Jobs Centre.

Our Campuses

Fryers St Campus
Wangaratta Regional Study Centre (RSC)
The Wangaratta Regional Study Centre Campus is a world class facility catering to the needs of the Animal Science, Agriculture, Horticulture and Viticulture industries and is the main campus of the National Centre for Equine Education. Charles Stuart University is also located at this campus.
Terang (TER)
The NCDE in Western Victoria is located at DemoDAIRY near Terang. DemoDAIRY Co-operative Ltd is a not-for-profit demonstration dairy farm for the local dairy industry.
Werribee (WER)
The Werribee campus offers the latest in food processing facilities. Student accommodation supports the ability for students from all over the country to learn on this campus.
Warragul (GIP)
The home of the National Centre for Dairy Education, our Warragul Campus is based in the Baw Baw Skills Centre, a state-of-the-art training facility for the West Gippsland region.
Leongatha (LEO)
A primary focus of the NDCE in Leongatha is the highly successful Apprenticeship and Traineeship programs in Agriculture. The NCDE in Leongatha is located close to the centre of town at the intersection of Smith and Peart Streets.

VET in Schools (VETiS)
Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) is a TAFE program available at the secondary school level.
VETiS programs provide secondary school students with the opportunity to complete a nationally accredited and industry recognised qualification while still at secondary school. You can complete Year 10, VCAL or VCE and a VETiS Certificate at the same time, giving you greater opportunities for further study or work and a greater understanding of the field you are interested in.
Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)
Students who have successfully completed Year 10 are eligible to study a VCAL certificate as an alternative to VCE (Year 11 & 12).
VCAL is hands-on and allows you to study what you’re interested in. Our experienced VCAL Trainers support you, strengthening your literacy and numeracy and work-ready skills.
Study Preparation CourseTransition programs are available through the Learning Skills Unit (LSU), that supports students who wish to continue their education at University or TAFE.
The units have been selected to develop literacy, numeracy, professional communication and computer literacy to the levels expected in academic study. The skills and strategies learnt through this program provide a sound basis for the Tertiary Enabling Program at La Trobe University and further study at GOTAFE.
CertificatesCertificate courses commence at Certificate I and go through to Certificate IV. With each level you will gain practical skills to give you a grounding in your chosen field. In general, a Certificate III is the Apprenticeship or Traineeship level where you learn both at work and on-campus, enhancing your knowledge and becoming a qualified skilled worker.Advance your skills and take the next step with a Certificate IV, this can then give you the opportunity to progress onto further study at Diploma level.
GOTAFE QualificationsThere are many ways to start your studies at GOTAFE, whether it be as a recent school leaver, a mature age student or even through the workplace. You can be sure that whatever pathway you choose, GOTAFE is here to support you.
All qualifications in this guide are nationally recognised (Note: the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is a state accredited program)
Diplomas/Advanced DiplomasDiplomas and Advanced Diplomas prepare you for a career and generally run from one to two and a half years. Many students choose to study a Diploma while working and can also lead to further study at university level.
DegreesGOTAFE enjoys a number of partnerships with some of Victoria’s largest Universities including University of Melbourne, RMIT University, Victoria University and La Trobe University and even shares facilities with regional institutions such as Charles Sturt University and Federation University. These partnerships allow you to seamlessly transition into a university degree in a number of areas including Health, Community Services and Business.

As a result of completing the Pre-Apprenticeship I was lucky enough to be employed as an Apprentice and continued my training with GOTAFE.
