2Lesson 1 ObjectivesBy the end of this lesson, you will be able to:Access and complete the required fields within LCMS.Publish a course to LMS and Store Front.Complete the launch the course from their LMS, and test the accuracy of the launch.

LCMS is the 360training content management system. The LCMS is the tool that allows product managers the ability to make changes and updates to the courses within their libraries. 4Course nameProduct priceHoursCourse descriptionLearning objectives

There are 5 metadata fields each product line manager must complete prior to launching a course. They are, course name, product price, hours, course description, and the learning objectives. There are other metadata fields that required by the system to be completed, before you can launch a new course. The fields above are specific to the role the PLM plays within the course launch process. The 5 metadata fields are minimum fields required before a course is added to storefront or the learning management system. 5

Here is a screenshot of one of the configuration screens within LCMS. The arrows are pointing to the locations of the 5 required metadata fields. Next you will see a video of one way to access LCMS and how to update those fields. 6Video Place Holder7

8Save It!

You must save your data before the system will allow you to publish.

You can choose to save your metadata updates after each one or you may want to update all of the fields and do one save. In this variation we have decided to use the one save method. Return to the course you have open in LCMS and save your metadata updates. 9Publish It!

Publishing your course makes it available for purchase or enrollment. You can either publish your course to storefront, LMS, or both.

Basecamp is our project management database and an integral part of the course launch and marketing process. As product line manager you can perform many tasks within Basecamp, but this training is specific to launching a course. 16Course DescriptionsHoursWeb Copy Marketing CollateralPPC SEOLaunch date

When launching a course you must let key departments know information so they can create collateral and add the course launch information to the marketing schedule. This information includes, course description, hours, is web copy required, is marketing collateral required, will there be PPC and SEO efforts on this course, and what is the exact launch date. 17

Basecamp will help you get organized as a product line manager. It also gets everyone on the same timeline regarding course launches. Typically you will be assigned to a project by the project manager. You have the ability to create project too, but we will discuss this later. The project manager works as a liaison between you and marketing to create a smooth launch.

19Creating a Project

Creating a project can be completed in 3 easy steps. Once you have logged into your Basecamp account, look into the top left hand corner under projects. You should find the New Project button. Click on the plus sign and you will be taken to the title page screen. It is here you will name your project, invite project attendees, and start your project. You have the ability to invite people in and outside of the company.

You want to name your project with something recognizable and easy to understand for the team. Remember, the people you invite to your project will be notified of project changes unless you remove them. Finally, once a project has been started it can only be archived not deleted.

So that is it:Create projectName projectStart Project20Create projectName projectStart Project

After you have started your project you will receive a welcome notice from Basecamp. You have already been invited to a project by the company project manager. Do not forget to look out for that notification. While you are waiting of for this information, lets invite someone to our new project. Because we are dealing with a live course, please be sure you are ready to start the marketing process before proceeding to next activity. If you would like to still practice, you can create a test project and follow the steps of the next activity. You will need to let all participants know the activity is for training. 21By Invite Only

23What To- Do with my To -Do?

Making a to-do list is almost as easy as adding inviting someone to a project. To-do lists do not have to be for other people, they can be a list of assignments you must complete prior to getting others involved in a project. The project manager is already assigned to every project and can see every to-do list. Keep the list work related.24What To- Do with my To -Do?

When you have added a new to-do list to your project, you can now create to-do task. Click where it says add a new to-do and type what you want completed. You can add as many to-do tasks as necessary.25What To- Do with my To -Do?

To assign the to-do to someone click the unassigned button and choose an employee. 26Unassigned To-Do

You can choose any employee within Basecamp to assign a to-do to. You can also set a due date. For your next activity, you will be asked to create a to-do list within Basecamp and assign a to-do task to someone. 27ActivityDo not log out of your training course to complete this activity. 30Lesson 3 ObjectivesBy the end of this lesson, you will be able to:Update appropriate metadata fields in Websphere Accelerator.Save metadata changes in the extended sites store.Update the price field on storefront.

It should take you approximately 40 minutes to complete Lesson 3.31

Websphere acceleratorthis is where the magic truly happens for a product line manager. Now that you have successfully updated a course within LCMS and notified the appropriate teams in marketing using Basecamp, the final step is to make the course available for purchase. 32Update Storefront metadataCreate pricing specialsBuild packages or kitsMake course available in Master Catalog

Websphere Accelerator is the database management system that allows product line managers to update storefront metadata, pricing, build packages or kits, create discounts, and make the courses available for purchase or viewing in the master catalog. 33Megasite vs. Extended Site

There are 2 major stores product line managers will work in to make changes, the extended sites store and Megasite. Extended sites store is the root store and all changes but price filter from the extended sites store to the portals, including your direct portal. There may be program description or discount that you want to apply to a course that only impacts the company and not the customers. This change would only occur on megasite.

To search for a store you can use a partial name search or if you happen to know the store name exactly, you can do an exact search. For the extended sites store you can use the word extended and for megasite you can use mega. Since we will be working with price later in the lesson, you will need to know how to access both. 35Catalog TreeThe ecommerce catalog is where you will need to make changes to course metadata, including pricing in order for this information to filter to the stores. It is easy to access the catalog tree once you are inside the extended sites store. Keep expanding the tree until you have drilled down to your personal course group.

39Pricing Updates

Pricing changes are handled almost the same way as metadata changes. Remember earlier we learned that you need to update pricing on megasite as well as extended site for pricing changes to be seen across all of the stores. To change or update pricing you need to access the course just as you did through the catalog tree. When you get to the course you can right click and select set price.

40Pricing, Offer, List

You can set the list priceSet an offer priceSet tiered pricing

You will be taken to the following screen which gives you three options:

In the next activity you will need to set pricing for your active course in both stores. It does not matter which store you are in, the process is the same. If you need to remember how to access the megasite store, refer to earlier in Lesson 3. 41ActivityDo not log out of LMS to complete this activity.
