    PHILOSOPHY/GOALS:

    THE STUDENT WILL BE INTRODUCED TO POWER ELECTRONICDEVICES AND SOLID STATE DRIVE PACKAGES. THE STUDENT WILLALSO BE INTRODUCED TO CONVERTER AND INVERTER CIRCUITSWHICH COMPRISE THE POWER AND CONTROL FOR THESE DRIVEPACKAGES. HANDS ON EXPERIENCE OF OPERATION ANDTROUBLESHOOTING OF TYPICAL COMMERCIAL AC AND DC DRIVESYSTEMS .WILL BE ACHIEVED THROUGH LAB EXERCISES.

    STUDENT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

    UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE, THE STUDENTWILL BE ABLE TO:

    1. DESCRIBE THE OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF VARIOUSPOWER ELECTRONIC DEVICES AND ASSOCIATED TRIGGERINGDEVICES;
