History Day School‘Aspects of Christmas in Manchester’

Presented by Chris Makepeace.Over the years, the way in which Christmas is celebrated has been the

subject of evolution rather than sudden change. It is from the middle of the 19th century that the Christmases we experience today began to develop. This day school will look at some of the many aspects of Christmas in the latter half

of the 19th and early years of the 20th centuries. Amongst the topics covered will be how the periodicals published in Manchester in the 1860s and 1870s reported on

Christmas celebrations, Christmas a hundred years ago in 1911, Christmas entertainment and Christmas food and drink.Thursday 8th December 10.30am – 3.30pm.

£12 including Buffet Lunch. Pay on the day. Ring 225 4226.
