Language classes You’ll take a short test when you enroll and at the start of your course. The test will help to place you at the level that best matches your current knowledge of German.

In the classes we organically blend the skills of speak-ing, listening, reading, writing and grammar. This will enable you to actively use what you’re learning right away (for example, in interviews or short projects) and to become familiar with the German language.

With our efficient learning methods, combined with the German-speaking environment, learners make substantial progress in a very short time. The teaching language is German.

examinations Participants who wish to do so have the opportunity to take an internationally recognized exam at the end of the course. The exams are tailored to the various age groups. By successfully completing one of our examina-tions, you demonstrate that you have achieved a certain language level.

The course leadersAll of our course leaders have international experience and are skilled at working with children and teens. They are skilled in the design and organization of intercultural encounters and are experts in the field of German as a Foreign Language, both in theory and practice.

The teachers At Goethe-Institut, all of our teachers are highly qualified and experienced, and specially trained in the teaching of young people. They pay special attention to individual strengths and weaknesses, ensuring that all learners are offered a program tailored to their needs.

The counselorsOur counselors are available for the course participants around the clock. They plan and organize the leisure program and act as the point of contact for any every-day questions that arise. The counselors are hand-picked by the Goethe Institut for these courses and have a great deal of experience in working with young people.

On average, one counselor is available for every 16 course participants. The younger the participants, the more intensive the support by the counselors. This ensures the best possible leisure-time program and the right level of supervision.

Sport and leisure program With our varied and exciting leisure program, boredom doesn’t stand a chance. Every day our team of counsel-ors offers sporting activities as well as creative, musical or cultural programs. We also accommodate special requests whenever possible, provided that sufficient numbers of participants are interested.

The beautifully situated boarding schools all have gymnasiums and sports facilities where games such as soccer, handball, volleyball, basketball, table tennis and swimming can be safely enjoyed under the super-vision of the counselors.

Creative activities such as painting, playing music, theater and pantomimes are an integral part of every course – not to mention games, barbecue nights, disco evenings and movies. Guided excursions are also orga-nized for the classes. At course locations in cities such as Berlin, Bonn and Munich, the many museums, the-aters and other sightseeing highlights also play a major role in the leisure-time program

In the ➝ German plus Winter Sports (p. 27), ➝ German plus Soccer (p. 30) and ➝ German plus Music (p. 34/37) courses, the leisure-time programs naturally have their own special focus.

SPeCiaL COUrSe PrOgramSgerman plus musicThe ‘German plus Music’ program is aimed at teens who have already gained basic proficiency on an instrument or in voice, or have done some acting. The workshops in the course give them an opportunity to pursue their mu-sical and theatrical interests under professional guidance, with the main focus on ensemble playing.

The course offers an opportunity to make new musical discoveries in an international environment, and to rehearse a musical theater production. Rental instruments are available for the duration of the course. Prices vary according to instrument.

german plus Soccer – for boys and girlsAfter learning German in the morning, you’ll put on your spikes after lunch to hone your soccer skills. Our ‘German plus Soccer’ course is the ideal program for all boys and girls who love ‘the beautiful game’ and want to have fun while improving their German in an interna-tional atmosphere

In the morning you’ll attend German classes. The after-noon program focuses on soccer training sessions headed by certified trainers. Many other sporting activities are also available. In addition, participants are taught soccer tactics and theory – naturally in German. Rounding off the program is a wide range of other leisure-time activi-ties such as excursions, sightseeing, movie and barbecue nights, a visit to a professional club in the German league (schedule permitting) and other group activities.

A German course in Germany will give your class an opportunity to develop a feeling for the language and the country while gaining a sense of achievement as they learn, and will continue to motivate them after they re-turn home.

On request, the Goethe-Institut will organize a language course just for your school class. We will work in consul-tation with you to organize the classes, the leisure pro-gram and the accommodation.

The classes will be tailored to the language skills and the interests of your group, and will include:

➝ 20 units of instruction per week ➝ all course materials ➝ special projects on German life and culture ➝ free use of the media resource center ➝ the organization of the extracurricular program ➝ a visit to a German school (if desired)

Let us design a language course for your class. We’ll be happy to consult with you and will put together a course to meet your specifications.
