Q:  If  I’m  working  20  hours  per  week,  how  many  units  should  I  register  for?

Q:  I  want  to  take  more  units  because  I  feel  like  I’m  behind.    Most  Bio  majors

graduate  in  4  years,  right?

Q:  I  want  to  take  more  units  because  I  feel  like  I’m  behind.    Most  Bio  majors

graduate  in  4  years,  right?

A:  No,  only  about  10%  of  Bio  majors  finish  in  4  years.    Most  Bio  majors

graduate  in  5,  6,  or  7  years.

(So  please  do  not  overload  yourself  with  units  because  you  feel  “behind”!  Your  grades  will  suffer.)

Q:  What  does  “upper  division”  mean?

Q:  What  does  “upper  division”  mean?

A:  “Upper  division”  means  300-‐400  level.    Note  ALL  community  college

courses  are  “lower-‐division.”

Q:  If  I  want  to  take  a  course  at  a  community  college,  how  do  I  get  transfer  credit  for  the  course?

Q:  If  I  want  to  take  a  course  at  a  community  college,  how  do  I  get  transfer  credit  for  the  course?

A:  Check  the  transfer  course  equivalencies  at  www.assist.org.    When  the  course  is  over,  have  the  community

college  send  your  transcript  to  Admissions  and  Records.

Q:  Where  can  I  find  out  the  prerequisites  for  a  course  I  want  to

take?

Q:  Where  can  I  find  out  the  prerequisites  for  a  course  I  want  to

take?

A:  Check  the  course  descripAon  on  TITAN  ONLINE  or  in  the  Course  Catalog.

Q:  If  the  secAon  I  want  to  take  is  full  (i.e.  for  Biol  172),  should  I  enroll  in  a  different  secAon  and  put  myself  on  the  waitlist  for  the  secAon

I  want?

I  want?  A:  Read  the  waitlist  guidelines  (in  the

RegistraAon  Guide  from  Admissions  &  Records)!    You  will  NOT  get  into  a  class  that  you’re

waitlisted  for  IF:  (1)  you’re  enrolled  in  another  secAon  of  the  same  course,  (2)  there  is  a  Ame  conflict  with  a  course  you’re  enrolled  in,  or  (3)  that  course  would  exceed  your  unit  limit  for  the

term.

Q:  What  if  I  can’t  get  into  the  Bio  class  I  need?

Q:  What  if  I  can’t  get  into  the  Bio  class  I  need?

A:  Increase  your  chances  of  gepng  the  classes  you  need  by  registering  as  soon  as  your  appointment  begins.    Always  go  for  advising  in  advance  so  your  hold  can  be
