IT In questo numero di Made In parliamo delle attività che hanno coinvolto CIFA con l’arrivo dell’estate, stagione calda anche per il nostro lavoro che è sempre in evoluzione, sempre guidato dallo spirito innovativo che ci contraddistingue. Infatti gli argomenti che affrontiamo riguardano l’innovazione non solo dal punto di vista della tecnologia, ma anche di logistica, cooperazione e – perché no? – di selezione del personale.L’innovazione tecnologica è chiaramente presente in ogni macchina e prodotto CIFA, ma l’occasione in questo numero è quella di parlarne in termini di interventi di manutenzione del carbonio e di sicurezza sulle macchine, oltre alle attività di ricerca e sviluppo. L’innovazione nella logistica è raccontata tramite la particolare spedizione di due pompe in Bangladesh… a pezzi! Non certo per errore, ma per la grande capacità di lavorare in squadra. Infine, l’innovazione nella selezione riguarda un nuovo modo di svolgere la ricerca dei giovani talenti da inserire in Azienda.Vi invitiamo a leggere anche gli aggiornamenti sul recente accordo con Euromecc riguardo la produzione degli impianti di betonaggio e sulle novità dall’area del Medio Oriente, senza dimenticare la terza parte della storia di CIFA che riguarda la nascita della nostra prima pompa autocarrata.

EN In this issue of Made In we talk about the activities that involved CIFA with the arrival of summer, hot season, also for our work that is always evolving, always driven by the innovative spirit that is so tipically CIFA. The topics we talk about are innovation, not only from the point of view of technology, but also about logistics, cooperation and - why not? - HR selection.Technological innovation is clearly present in every machine and CIFA product, but the opportunity in this issue is to talk about it in terms of carbon maintenance and safety on machines, as well as research and development activities. The innovation in logistics is told through the particular shipping of two pumps in Bangladesh ... in pieces! Certainly not by mistake, but thanks to a great teamwork. Finally, the innovation in the selection concerns a new way to carry out the research of young talents for being hired in the Company.We also invite you to read updates on the recent agreement with Euromecc concerning the production of batching plants and news from the Middle East area. THE STORY OF CIFA, THIRD PART - FROM 1959 TO 1973

EN In the last issue of Made in we spoke about the birth of the first CIFA truck mixer, the “400”. The first concrete mixers were completely mechanical machines and based on the American designs, but the CIFA engineers soon designed an Italian version of the mixer. After the first prototypes, the brand became world-famous and so closely bound to the concept of concrete mixers that people would say “I saw a CIFA” rather than “I saw a mixer”.

With Carlo Ausenda’s death in 1967, CIFA was faced with a transition period for bringing the founder’s inheritance in terms of results and innovative ideas. Heirs took over from their father in various positions in the Company, but the guide role was given to Rafael Emdin, Ausenda’s right hand man.

IT Abbiamo visto nello scorso numero di Made In la nascita della prima autobetoniera CIFA, la “400”. Le prime autobetoniere erano macchine completamente meccaniche e realizzate dai disegni americani, i tecnici CIFA però impararono presto a riprogettarle in versione italiana. Dopo i primi prototipi, il marchio CIFA diviene famoso in tutto il mondo grazie all’associazione con il prodotto: dire “ho visto una CIFA” significava affermare di aver visto una betoniera.

La morte del fondatore Carlo Ausenda nel 1967 pose CIFA in un periodo di transizione in cui portare con sé l’eredità del Presidente in termini di idee innovative e di risultati. Gli eredi subentrarono al padre a vario titolo, ma la guida fu affidata a Rafael Edmin, braccio destro di Ausenda.

EN The growth of the concrete sector in the Sixities and Seventies is an extraordinary impulse: in Italy, in particular, there was a real boom of the residential market, not at all held back by the parallel explosion of house prices caused by the devaluation of Lira (the old Italian currency). In these years CIFA designs a product that would have changed the construction industry forever, making it more modern and efficient: the concrete pump.The first model ever was imported from the United States in 1969, later (in 1972) the first CIFA pump was designed and built: the “554”, equipped with an auxiliary engine and a capacity of 55 cubic meters / hour and with 30-meter boom with metallic curves on the joints, increasingly lon booms and concrete

pumping capacities similar to those of today.Thus, CIFA is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of concrete pumps, with the intuition that a modern construction industry should also use suitable machinery for pumping concrete.

CIFA has come a long way from the first truck-mounted pump. It has designed and implemented increasingly innovative and technological models, offering a wide and articulated range in 3 lines to meet the operational needs of customers: Classic, Steeltech and Carbotech with boom sections made of carbon. Carbon is also used today for another CIFA important product, the mixer pump, but this is another story - or rather - it is the continuation of the same one, and we will know it by reading the next issue of Made in.

IT La crescita del settore del calcestruzzo vive tra la fine degli anni ‘60 e l’inizio dei ’70 uno straordinario impulso: in Italia, in particolare, coincide con un vero e proprio boom del mercato residenziale, niente affatto frenato dalla parallela esplosione dei prezzi delle abitazioni causati dalla svalutazione della Lira. più simili a quelli di oggi. CIFA entra così a pieno titolo tra i marchi mondiali produttori di pompe per calcestruzzo, forte dell’intuizione che una moderna industria delle costruzioni dovesse avvalersi anche di macchinari idonei per il pompaggio e la messa in opera del calcestruzzo.

EN CIFA and Euromecc, a company specializing in the manufacture of batching plants – signed a technical, production and commercial collaboration agreement within the batching plants industry.Both Cifa and Euromecc join their history, experience and expertise, developing a new and more extended range of products with superior characteristics for stationary and mobile plants.

The new range of products is distributed and sold under the CIFA brand and, at the same time, these plants are manufactured in Euromecc’s production plants.A solution that summarises the experiences of the two companies to provide the highest quality, a wider offering, and the best quality/price ratio.

EN Necessity is the mother of invention and in CIFA we have demonstrated this with a pioneering activity, concerning the delivery of two K55L pumps in Bangladesh. For a logistical limit because it was impossible to unload the entire car in the destination port, we had to send it in 3 parts: truck chassis, pumping group and boom. Once arrived at the destination, the local technicians of the dealer Eurostar and the CIFA technician assembled the pump and tested it for the customer, ASE Atomstroy Export (General Contractor for the construction of an energy plant commissioned by the government of Bangladesh).

The operation was a success thanks to the work of the technical and industrialization office that has made accurate design for the on-site assembly of the truck pump and the transport specifications; to the work of logistics, essential for the coordination of the components shipping; to the work of the Eurostar team and the CIFA technician - coordinated by the post-sales office - which have completed all the activities in Bangladesh, starting the tests and pumping after only 7 days from the arrival of the machine. A great teamwork!The “pieces” delivery is new and has been one of those challenges that make real the concept of innovation in CIFA, a feature of processes and logistics, not just of the machines.

TWO K55L…IN PIECESDue K55L… a pezzi

IT La necessità aguzza l’ingegno e in CIFA lo abbiamo dimostrato con un’impresa che si può definire pionieristica, riguardante la consegna di due pompe K55L in Bangladesh. Per un limite logistico d’impossibilità di scaricare al porto di destino la macchina completamente montata, è stato necessario inviarla in 3 parti: telaio del camion, base pompa e braccio. Una volta arrivata a destinazione, i tecnici locali del dealer Eurostar insieme al tecnico CIFA hanno assemblato e carrato la pompa e svolto i test per assicurarne l’operatività per il cliente, ASE Atomstroy Export (General Contractor per la realizzazione di una centrale di energia commissionata dal governo del Bangladesh).

The “pieces” delivery is new and has been one of those challenges that make real the concept of innovation in CIFA.L’invio “a pezzi” rappresenta una novità ed è stata una di quelle sfide che rendono concreto il concetto di innovazione in CIFA.

L’operazione ha avuto successo grazie al lavoro dell’ufficio tecnico che ha realizzato disegni accurati per l’assemblaggio in loco della pompa autocarrata e le specifiche per il trasporto, dell’ufficio industrializzazione per la stabilizzazione del carico. L’attività della logistica è stata fondamentale per il coordinamento della spedizione della componentistica, come essenziale è stato il lavoro del team di tecnici locali di Eurostar che unitamente al tecnico CIFA - coordinato dall’ufficio post-vendita - hanno ultimato tutte le attività in Bangladesh, iniziando i test e il pompaggio dopo soli 7 giorni dall’arrivo della macchina. Un grande lavoro di squadra! L’invio “a pezzi” rappresenta una novità ed è stata una di quelle sfide che rendono concreto il concetto di innovazione in CIFA, una caratteristica che si declina anche nei processi e nella logistica, non solo nella realizzazione tecnica delle macchine.

EN On April 23rd 2018, the China Construction Machinery Association  (CCMA) organized an institutional event at the Intermat in Paris in which the ma jo r Ch inese cons t ruc t ion equipment companies were invited. The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and Chinese Embassy in France. Cohesion is the value of the proposal of companies that, despite being competitors, know how to highlight the sense of belonging to a common industrial system.CCMA is an association which brings together the major manufacturers of construction machinery and equipment, and Mr. Davide Cipolla -CIFA’s CEO - took part in the press conference representing Zoomlion, and reported the new direction taken by CIFA following the acquisition by Zoomlion, in 2008: “Ten years after the acquisition of CIFA in Zoomlion I can say that for us it was a great opportunity for consolidation

and growth. Two are the aspects that should be underlined: “This acquisition  gave great opportunities to CIFA both for the advantages of the great synergies in sales and supply chain but also in new fresh investments and possibility to CIFA’s repositioning in the new technology developments and product quality. In the same way, we were able to benefit from new direct investments, which allowed us to maintain and improve our production sites in Italy, continuing in the name of technological innovation that at this point was shared with the important Chinese industrial reality, in a mechanism of productive interchange for both.”

The same technological innovation that makes CIFA and Zoomlion the only ones that design and produce machines in the concrete construction field with the use of carbon fiber and hybrid technology.

EN White suits and cold colors. What may seem like a crime scene is actually the CIFA laboratory, set up for carbon fiber repairs.In June, a course called “Booms in composite, maintenance and repair” took place at CIFA Academy (in Milan), which was attended by CIME Bau, our dealer in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.The aim of the course was to increase the skills required for maintainance of the carbon sections present on our Carbotech truck-mounted pumps.

The proposed activities were divided into three difficulty levels: the first level was the repair of a corner abrasion on the boom section, the second one was the repair of the damage in the central part which requires the vacuum technique. Finally, for the best students only, a particularly hard repair can be proposed, which involves the removal and reconstruction of a corner of the section that, in the simulation, would have been hit in a very violent way.

Quella che può sembrare una scena del crimine è in realtà il laboratorio di CIFA, predisposto per gli interventi sulla fibra di carbonio.Presso CIFA Academy a Senago (Milano) a giugno si è svolto il corso denominato “Bracci in composito manutenzione e riparazione” a cui hanno partecipato i tecnici della CIME Bau, dealer per la Repubblica Ceca e Slovacchia.Il corso ha avuto come obiettivo quello di far accrescere le competenze pratiche e teoriche necessar ie al mantenimento delle sezioni realizzate in carbonio, presenti sulle nostre pompe autocarrate Carbotech. Le at t iv i tà proposte si dividono in tre livelli di difficoltà operativi: il primo livello propedeutico consiste nella riparazione dell’abrasione di un angolo della sezione, mentre il secondo consiste nella riparazione del danneggiamento avvenuto nella

parte centrale della piattabanda che richiede obbligatoriamente l’utilizzo della tecnica del vuoto. Infine, solo per gli studenti migliori, può essere proposta una riparazione particolarmente complessa che prevede l’asportazione e la ricostruzione di un angolo della sezione che, nella simulazione, sarebbe stata colpita con particolare violenza.

EN Versatility is one of the characteristics that best describes CIFA’s mixer pumps. It is a machine suitable to the different needs of the jobsite. To proove this and to show you the main features that make CIFA different from the rest of the competitors, we spent a day with Magnum MK32L, equipped with the Easytronic system.In a particular territory like the Italian mountains, jobsites are often characterized by a limited availability of space for the machines, which is why the mixer pump is the best solution: it combines the transportation and pumping of concrete in just one machine. It also occupies an area smaller than the use of a mixer and a

pump at the same time. As can be seen in the pèictures, the jobsites we visited were located close to mountain walls or in areas with limited space, yet the Magnum had no problems both in the placement phase and in the pumping one. This thanks to the LSC system (Light Stability Control) that stabilizes the machine in safety and automatically. The types of under construction buildings were very different from each other: a school, a private house and a service station. The versatility is showed in the different configurations of the arm that ensure maximum operation, reaching any area of the jobsite, even the least accessible.

IT La versatilità è una delle caratteristiche che meglio descrivono le betonpompe di CIFA. La capacità di essere una macchina in grado di adattarsi alle diverse esigenze del cantiere la rende di grande utilità. Per dimostrarvi questo e illustrarvi le principali caratteristiche che contraddistinguono CIFA dal resto della concorrenza, abbiamo trascorso una giornata con il Magnum MK32L, dotato di sistema Easytronic.In un territorio particolare come quello montuoso dell’Alto Adige, i cantieri sono spesso caratterizzati da una scarsa disponibilità di spazio per le macchine, per questo la betonpompa si dimostra la migliore soluzione perché, coniugando in un solo mezzo il trasporto e il pompaggio del calcestruzzo, occupa un’area inferiore rispetto all’utilizzo di una betoniera e di una pompa.Come si può vedere dalle fotografie, i cantieri che abbiamo visitato erano collocati a ridosso di pareti scoscese o comunque in zone dallo spazio limitato, eppure il Magnum non ha avuto problemi sia nella fase di piazzamento sia in quella di pompaggio. Questo grazie al sistema LSC (Light Stability Control) che permette di stabilizzare la macchina in completa sicurezza e in maniera automatica.I tipi di edifici in costruzione erano molto differenti tra loro: una scuola, una casa privata e una stazione di servizio. La versatilità si riscontra anche nelle diverse configurazioni del braccio che garantiscono la massima operatività, raggiungendo qualsiasi area del cantiere, anche la meno accessibile.

EN CIFA’s machines are now building the new U.S.A. Embassy in Lebanon, in Beirut. The Embassy will be built over an area of 174,000 square meters and will be ready for occupancy in 2023. So, CIFA is proud to co-work to the construction of an eco-friendly and stylish building designed by Morphosis Architects, who was shortlisted in an international tender, and built by B.L. Harbert International of Birmingham, Alabama, the construction contractor.

L’ambasciata sarà costruita in un’area di 174 mila metri quadrati e sarà pronta e funzionante nel 2023. Psc Group Sal, nostro dealer in Libano, ha fornito il cantiere con quattro mezzi CIFA: una pompa K42L Steeltech e tre autobetoniere HD12 su camion Mercedes.La nuova sede è progettata per essere sicura,

sostenibile e moderna, in grado di supportare il personale dell’ambasciata in rappresentanza del governo degli Stati Uniti in Libano e nella conduzione della diplomazia quotidiana. Pertanto, CIFA è orgogliosa di collaborare alla costruzione di un edificio eco-compatibile e di grande stile, progettato da Morphosis Architects, che è stato selezionato in una gara internazionale, e costruito da B.L. Harbert International.

Some technical colleagues visited the Zoomlion factory in Changsha in China and met the Crane Business Unit team.I colleghi hanno visitato la fabbrica Zoomlion a Changsha in Cina e incontrato il team della business unit Crane.

EN Starting from the beginning of 2018, a planning and development activity has begun on two new Zoomlion mobile crane machines with features for the European Market. Some technical colleagues visited the Zoomlion factory in Changsha in China and met the Crane Business Unit team. During the visits the two teams were able to exchange their respective technical skills on the projects and analyze in depth the electronic systems on the machine and the components. The aim is to design in Italy the prototypes of the cranes in the European version, responsing to the EU restrinctions. The two models are ATC1000, 100 tons of capacity on 4 axles, and ATC960, 60 tons on 3 axles and will be presented at the upcoming BAUMA Munich exhibition in 2019.

IT A partire da inizio 2018  è   stata avviata  un’attività di  pianificazione e sviluppo  di   due nuove macchine mobile crane Zoomlion dalle caratteristiche compatibili con il mercato europeo. I colleghi hanno visitato la fabbrica Zoomlion a Changsha in Cina e incontrato il team della business unit Crane. Durante le visite i due team hanno potuto approfondire e scambiare le rispettive competenze tecniche sui progetti e approfondire analisi sui sistemi elettronici a bordo macchina, sulla componentistica e gli allestimenti, per poter progettare in Italia i prototipi delle gru in versione europea, in grado quindi di rispondere ai vincoli normativi della UE. I due modelli in fase di progettazione sono ATC1000, 100 ton di portata su 4 assi, e ATC960, 60 ton su 3 assi e verranno presentati alla prossima esposizione BAUMA Monaco di Baviera nel 2019. 

EN In June, CIFA had the pleasure of participating in the High-Flyers Day event by Almalaurea in Milan. The aim of the participation was to meet the best candidates on a national scale, pre-selected by Almalaurea on the basis of specific indicators, in just one day. CIFA has therefore known the Best 30 Technical Engineers to evaluate their skills. An experience that has been extremely positive for the Human Resources department!

IT A giugno CIFA ha avuto il piacere di partecipare all’evento High-Flyers Day, organizzato da Almalaurea a Milano. L’obiettivo della partecipazione è stato quello di incontrare in una sola giornata i migliori candidati su scala nazionale, preselezionati da Almalaurea in base a specifici indicatori. CIFA ha dunque conosciuto la rosa dei Best 30 Technical Engineers per valutarne le competenze e avere un bacino di talenti a cui attingere. Un’esperienza che è risultata estremamente positiva per il dipartimento Risorse Umane!

EN The R&D departments of CIFA and CIFA Hunan in China have always had a direct line on research and product issues. The Technical Director and the Pumping Product Manager of the Chinese headquarters met the Italian management to share topics about remote data monitoring and hybrid technology.  The know-how exchange meetings take place regularly between the two R&D departements, some extraordinary meetings can have place, such as the one held last May in Turkey on the development of the Classic Line product for the Turkish Market.

IT I dipartimenti R&D di CIFA e CIFA Hunan in Cina hanno sempre avuto un filo diretto di confronto sui temi di ricerca e prodotto. L’ultimo incontro avvenuto in Italia ha visto la partecipazione del direttore tecnico e del responsabile prodotti pumping della sede cinese con la direzione italiana sui temi del data monitoring da remoto e della tecnologia ibrida. Gli incontri di scambio di know how avvengono regolarmente tra le due R&D e a questi si aggiungono anche meeting straordinari, come quello tenutosi in Turchia lo scorso maggio sullo sviluppo del prodotto Classic Line per il mercato turco.

Gianmarco RoncoNetwork Developer ManagerThanks to his great passion for engines since 1984 and grandparents which were owners of a quarry with CIFA batching plants and mixers, Gianmarco could only have our Company in its destiny. The degree in Mechanical Engineering and the first work experience in a technical office made him realize that he was not the classic engineer, but that he would have preferred a more cross-cutting role in contact with sales, so he became a Product Manager. At CIFA he is Network Developer Manager for understanding how to develop the network and products, focusing on the client’s wishes. Welcome and do a good job!

Gianmarco RoncoNetwork Developer ManagerCon una grande passione dal 1984 per i motori e dei nonni proprietari di una cava con impianti di betonaggio e betoniere CIFA, Gianmarco non poteva che avere la nostra Azienda nel suo destino. La laurea in Ingegneria meccanica e la prima esperienza lavorativa in un ufficio tecnico gli hanno fatto capire che non si sentiva il classico ingegnere, ma che avrebbe preferito un ruolo più trasversale in contatto con le vendite, diventando Product Manager. In CIFA ricopre il ruolo di Network Developer Manager con lo scopo di capire come sviluppare la rete e i prodotti, mettendo al centro i desideri del cliente. Benvenuto e buon lavoro!
