AFL Football Clinic : On Monday this week representatives from the Carlton football club came to Hamilton to run clinics for school students at Melville Oval. Baimbridge College students participated in the clinics during the day and even some of our staff were keen to see their heroes perform in the flesh. All students who took part had a great day, and one of our assistant principals, whose name begins with John and ends in Hill, was quite excited to have his photograph taken with an AFL star, sadly as an Essendon supporter I didn’t recognise the Carlton players name !
Italian Visitors : As in past years we are again about to have a visit from two students from Milan in Italy. Twins Ludevico and Eduardo Vallin, who visited last year, had such a great time that their father asked if they could return this year, and we naturally agreed. Ludevico will be staying with the Thompson family and Eduardo is billeting with the Donehue family. They are arriving this Saturday and will be picked up by our Italian teacher Mr Marco Antonelli. They will stay in Hamilton for four weeks, two weeks of school and two weeks of school holidays. These two young men were a pleasure to have at school last year so I trust that they will again be welcomed by our school community.
GAT : The general achievement test was held for all students studying a unit 3 / 4 subject this week. The ‘test’ was held on Tuesday from 10.15am until 1.15pm. in the hall on the east campus. The test was a VCAA requirement and all students were made aware of this before hand. I am pleased to say the supervisors of the test were complimentary about the conduct of our students and the respect they showed each other - not that it would be acceptable to be any different but I am always pleased to hear people speak positively about Baimbridge College students.
100 Year Anniversary : This Saturday we hold our 100 year anniversary celebration. Assistant Principal Miss Rosemary Morgan has organisation for the day well in hand and everyone has been run ragged putting in place the final touches for Saturday. The school will be open for tours so that visitors can reminisce about their school days, there are memorabilia displays from both the High school and the Secondary College, we are selling mementos of the day so that everyone can take home a reminder of this special celebration and there will be unveilings of various memorials to ensure the day is remembered in years to come. I look forward to welcoming visitors and sharing some of the history of the schools that have been such an important part of the lives of past and present residents of Hamilton.

Cross Country : Also taking place on Monday was the regional cross country event that we had a number of students participating in. The event was held in Warrnambool and I am pleased to report that both Bec Langley and Jordan Plunkett have both qualified to go to the State Cross Country Finals on the 14th of July at Bundoora Park.
Reports : I would like to remind our community that in keeping with our announcements earlier this year staff have been forwarding ‘learning tasks‘ to parents and students using our student management system Compass. These learning tasks provide a snapshot of the work required in class and will have been assessed and reported back using Compass as well, giving parents and students an ongoing idea of progress during semester I. As a result of this new process the lengthy semester reports we have come to expect will not be provided this year. There will be a short report on Compass but most comments will have already been made during the semester. The report will again be on the Compass system and if hard copies are desired these can be printed at home. If families are not able to print then we can do so in response to a phone call to school requesting a paper copy of the report.
Long Weekend : This weekend, Saturday 11 June is also the Queen’s Birthday long weekend. There will be no school on Monday 13 June. Normal classes will resume on Tuesday 14th June.
Leave : I have mentioned to our School Council earlier this year that I will be taking long service leave for the second half of 2016. I will begin leave at the end of this term and the current principal of Casterton Secondary College, Mrs Meridith Walker, will be Acting Principal in my absence. Mrs Walker is an experienced Principal and I know she will do an excellent job. I expect that she will be made to feel welcome by our school community and I look forward to resuming my position at the beginning of 2017.
Compass : Our online student management system, Compass, has been enhanced this year. Parents should have their own personal log on which is different to their son or daughter’s. The system is accessible anywhere the internet is available on computer, smart phone, tablet or other mobile device. The website is https://baimbridge-co.vic.jdlf.com.au/login.aspx If you require more information accessing the system please contact the school. There is a link on our website to help you should you forget the address.
If there are any questions or concerns I urge parents and guardians to contact myself, our Assistant Principals Mr John Hill and Miss Rosemary Morgan or the relevant Co-ordinators.

Certificate III in Media (Computer Game Design) On Tuesday 17th May Mr Banfield took his Computer Game Design class to AIE in Melbourne. As part of this course students are enrolled with Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE), which is a Regis-tered Training Organisation (RTO). AIE has campuses in Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.
The Certificate III in Media course teaches students how to develop a game from initial concept to playable demo. Using the Unreal game engine, art and scripts students design gameplay mechanics and refine them while learning the entire development pipeline.
The course introduces new game-specific content such as:
Learn how to define and develop game mechanics
Develop game design documentation
Rapid prototype gameplay
Create interactive environments
Process feedback to refine game design
No prior programming knowledge required

association run as a not for profit organisation) and one of the roles is to
report on the event, hence the Sport Ed Reports popping up in the newsletter every term.

The following students participated in distances over 3 and 5kms. Nikita Ansell
Daniel Battista Jacob Cook
Jakob Greaves Liam Griffiths-Napier

Rhys Wheeler All students represented Baimbridge College exceptionally well. Both in their efforts during their
