Scoping Proposal Wind Turbine Layout Ver.2

The second proposed layout consists of 15 turbines with a maximum tip height of 145m.

Both of these initial design options have an estimated installed capacity of over 50MW. Turbine numbers and dimensions may reduce and the layout may change as a result of ongoing site assessments.

The first of these design options consists of 20 turbines with tip heights of 110m. This is the maximum number of turbines that can be developed on this site.

Landscape and visual assessment is a key part of the development process, and is used to inform the design of the proposals.

Preliminary Zone of Theoretical Visibility (ZTV) diagrams have been produced for the Cowal and Trossachs Forest District Wind Farm - Bachan Burn initial layout options. These diagrams indicate the number of turbines theoretically visible from the surrounding area.

For further information on the visibility of the proposed wind farm please speak to one of the PNE WIND UK team who will be able to talk you through our interactive 3D computer visualisation.

This ZTV indicates the theoretical visibility of 20 turbines with tip heights of 110m.

This ZTV indicates the theoretical visibility of 15 turbines with tip heights of 145m.

As part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, the wind farm and all associated infrastructure will be assessed in terms of potential impacts to each aspect of the environment, and all findings will be reported in an Environmental Statement which will form part of the future planning application.

The Cowal and Trossachs Forest District Wind Farm - Bachan Burn provides an excellent wind resource as highlighted by the figure to the left. The red shading indicates the highest wind speeds.

Extensive onsite assessments are undertaken to ensure that the wind farm will feature a design that is sensitive to the natural features of the site and presents the most practical environmental option for a wind farm at this location.

The map to the left shows the development constraints that are present onsite.
