Dear Parents
What a tremendous week and
celebration of achievement at Cowra
Public School. I would like to congratulate
all students who received an award and I
would also like to acknowledge the
wonderful and respectful attitudes of the
students who showed 100% attention
during the ceremonies.
This week, along with the major
assemblies, is still very busy with our Stage
3 children enjoying their major excursion
to Canberra. Mrs Hilton, Mrs Kilby, Mr
Garlick and Ms Eldridge have taken
Stage 3 to the nations’ capital and by all
reports are having a wonderful time. The
group will be returning Friday afternoon
and will no doubt be tired from the
experience.
Yesterday the Stage 1 classes enjoyed
their party day with an excess of sugar on
hand. A stranger in the school grounds
with a white beard and red suit threw our
stranger danger lessons by the wayside
as the children delighted in the visit of this
jolly fellow. Stage 1 will also be having a
sprinkler day next week on Monday as
part of our PBL Reward system and
children are to bring their swimmers,
towel and a pair of thongs with them.
Stages 2 and 3 will have their party days
next Tuesday, 16 December. Teachers will
inform the children what they will require.
Stage 2 will also be having a sprinkler day
on Tuesday and must also bring
swimmers, thongs and a towel in their
bags. Stage 3 will be having a period at
the pool as part of their class parties and
will also need swimmers and a towel and
$2.00 entry fee into the pool.
During the break the school will have
several things happening with the
installation of a fence on the south
eastern side of the school and the
continued installation of sound proof
glass in the infants buildings. We are also
expecting major tiling work in the toilets
during the break.
I would like to thank Ms Hyde who has
been with us on Year 1 and wish her the
best as she pursues further studies in 2015
at University. We are sure to have Ms
Hyde in during next year so we will keep
in contact and hopefully have Ms Hyde
back with us in the future. I would also like
to thank Ms Parker for her outstanding
contribution to our school over the last
two years in the variety of roles that she
has taken. 2015 looks to be an exciting
year with many events already
planned and we are looking forward to
the children progressing forward and
once again achieving.
This year really has passed in a blur and
as I write this, the last newsletter of the
year, I think “where has it gone”. 2014
has truly been a very successful year at
Cowra Public School and I thank the
students, staff and parents. I hope
every member of the Cowra Public
School community enjoys a happy and
safe Christmas and holiday period. I
look forward to welcoming everyone
back on Wednesday, 28 January for
Years 1-6 and Thursday, 29 January for
Kindergarten.
Merry Christmas

INFANTS PBL REWARD AFTERNOON
“SPRINKLER FUN”
Next Monday afternoon the Infants
students (Kindergarten to Year 2) will be
holding a “Sprinkler Afternoon” as part
of the school’s PBL Reward system, (for
students who have not received a blue
slip in the last five weeks).
Each class will be allocated 15 minutes to run under and around a
sprinkler that will be set up on the Infants grass area.
Students will need to bring their swimmers, towel and thongs (to
be worn under the sprinklers). Thongs are not to be worn to
school.
ATTENDANCE REWARD DAY
Regular attendance at school is essential to assist students to
maximise their potential. Schools, in partnership with parents, are
responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students.
Congratulation to the students who received a certificate for
attendance in 2014. These students did not have a day off from
school for the whole year. To reward this outstanding effort the
school is taking them to “Flip Out”, which is a trampoline complex
in Orange.
The students will be travelling by bus to and from Orange
accompanied by Mr Tom on Tuesday, 16 December. They will
depart the school at 9.30am and will have an hour to bounce
and spring on the trampolines.
Students will be provided lunch at
Cook Park, Orange before departing
for home arriving back at school at
3.00pm.
This reward day is a great way to give
students positive reinforcement that
attendance is a large part of the
educational process.
P & C NEWS !!!

education so please mark the date down
on your calendar.
The P & C will again be running a stall at the
Cowra Night Markets to be held on Friday,
12 December 2014. The P & C is looking for

~~ 15 weeks to go ~~
FRIDAY 20 MARCH 2015 5pm in the school grounds
We've had to change the date of our fete due to the NSW state
election in late March. Please note the fete has been brought
forward a week from that previously advertised.
Mark the date in your diaries – the P&C’s major fund raising activity for 2015 is only 15 weeks away.
It's not as close as Christmas but we will seem to get to the date just as quick!
All funds raised from the fete will be used on projects that benefit all children at our school - there
are things you can be doing now to help our fete committee.....
WE NEED YOUR HELP!—we can’t run a fete without help so please consider donating an hour or two
of your time on fete night. The P&C need help before and after the fete to set up and pack up, as
well as helpers to work on the stalls over the fete’s duration. If you can help in any way, please fill out
the form in next week’s newsletter and return it to school before the end of Term. Many hands make
light work!
JAZZY JARS—we will once again be running this fun stall at our fete - start planning now.
Start collecting empty jars with lids over the Christmas break - unusual shapes and sizes
appreciated! You can fill your jar with almost anything and the filled jars will be
collected early in Term 1 next year. Once again, there will be a prize for the class with
the most jars and the challenge will be to unseat Mrs White's class - the reigning Jazzy
Jar champion class! More details will be published in the new school year - but start
thinking now!
STALL HOLDERS—do you have a product or service that you want to sell? Our fete gives you the
opportunity to peddle your wares at a very affordable price. If you are interested in having a stall at
our fete, please contact the school office.
HAUNTED HOUSE –ENTER ONLY IF YOU DARE. The famed CPS HAUNTED HOUSE will
return to this year’s Fete, with plans underway for it to be spookier and scarier than
ever! This attraction is one of the children’s favourite, but it does need a few hours
of setting up so if you have some creative flair and are not afraid of the dark,
please get in touch with the P&C. Also wanted - any ex Halloween props and
decorations, scary ghosts or spider webs - please leave your donations at the school office.
BOOK STALL – clean out your children’s book cases, games cupboards and DVD's to make way for
the Christmas stash. You can donate any preloved books, magazines (in good condition), video
games or DVDs to our school for our book stall. Books can be left at the school office leading up to
Christmas. Make some room at your place and donate them to us!
OTHER ATTRACTIONS – Dance performances, student art displays, face painting, fun
activities for all ages, insane balloon fun, chocolate wheel, school
merchandise, EXCELLENT FOOD and much, much more.
