Dear Parents
Another week seems to have passed in the
blink of an eye. Last Thursday the school
held the monthly P&C meeting with
discussion being held on the proposed 5/6
transition to high school in 2015. Parent
feedback is always welcomed at Cowra
Public School and after consultation the
school will be looking to only involve Year 6
in transition activities at this time. The P&C
will be holding a Movie Night later in the
term on Wednesday, 26 November.
Please highlight this date on your calendar
as it promises to be a great night. The P&C
will also be starting preparations towards
the planned School Fete that is scheduled
for March. If you would like to be part of
the Fete Committee please contact Mrs
Long at the school. This will be the major
event for 2015 and we welcome new
members to the P&C.
This week we have had several teachers
away from the school participating in
Professional Learning. We are delighted
that our Stage 1 teachers have completed
their accreditation in L3, which is an early
literacy program currently being run in both
Kindergarten and Year 1. Congratulations
to these ladies.
Kinder orientation is in full swing with the
third session on today and the children
starting to show signs of familiarisation
within the school. It is great to see the
enthusiasm from our tremendous staff
towards our new students which makes
this experience so worthwhile.
Today our girls’ League Tag team has
been competing in the gala day held in
Grenfell. We hope the girls had a great
day and thank the parent helpers for
assisting in the transport of children and
Mr Murray and Miss Milgate for
coaching the team.
Tomorrow senior sport will be held in the
morning and will be at this time until the
end of the year. This is to provide the
students with the best chance of
reducing the sun exposure that is
experienced in the later part of the day.
Tomorrow the school will be hosting the
ACT Junior Band at approx 2.30pm. The
school is once again looking forward to
seeing a visiting band of student
performers.
The Cowra Shire Council has sent a
recent information alert with details of
road changes in Vaux Street in the next
week. Please be aware traffic changes
are expected over a period of time at
the intersection of Vaux Street and
Macquarie Street.
Due to illness, Mr Lewis will be away from
the school for a period of time and Ms
