Grade 5/6 Homework The purpose of homework is to get students into the habit of taking work from school to home and back to school. It fosters positive work habits and allows them to begin to understand the best way that they work. This term, the students will be given all their homework at once. They should not do all of the tasks at once, however, it is expected that they complete at least one task per week. The minimum requirement for each task is what is directly stated within the matrix. This does not mean that the student cannot do more work on a task, if they choose to. It is about developing work independence and self-motivation. Literacy Research different types of poems. Write 3 different types of poems on a topic of your choice.. Find a poem that interests you. Write a review of what emotions, ideas and thoughts it inspires within you. Make sure you include a copy of the poem. (It could also be the lyrics of a song) Think about your favourite game or sport. Write a procedural text (instructions) on how to play the game. Make sure you include equipment, rules and a map of the field/board. It would be helpful to include some ‘useful tips’. Help someone in your family when they are cooking dinner.
