What is Creativity? What is Creativity?Creativity is a mental
process involving generation, or of discovering new
associations between existing ideas or
concepts.
An alternative, more everyday concept of creativity is that it is
simply the act of making something
new.
Creative IntroductionsFind someone who has the same card as you. Get to know them. You will then be asked to introduce your partner to the rest of the group in a creative and/or numerical way including:
• Their name,
• Area of work/interest,
• Reasons to be here/expectations,
• A number or drawing that might represent an aspect of their work or life!!
Aims and objectives of the session
Outline and discuss strategies for effective teaching and learning of numeracyIdentify activities that engage students in learning numeracy Explore “Thinking Through Mathematics” approaches and activitiesEnrich own mathematical thinkingHave a creative time!!

“I keep six faithful serving menWho teach me well and true.Their names are
• What and
• Where and
• When And
• How and
• Why and
• Who.”
What are my perceptions, views and teaching
practices?
Before discussing how to become better at teaching and supporting learning of numeracy we need to explore and reflect on our own beliefs and assumptions about the teaching and learning of mathematics/numeracy.
In groups of three or four, discuss the statements and group them into categories:
AgreeDisagreeCannot decideOr modify if you wish
