UK Vet - Vol 12 No 1 January 2007 The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recommends that every practising veterinary surgeon, whether in full time or part time employment, carries out a minimum of 35 hours of CPD per year. To facilitate the self-regulation of this, the RCVS issued members with a CPD Recording Card in July 1997. The 35 hours can be made up by attending lectures, conferences, giving talks, as well as by 10 hours of distance learning and home study. To encourage CPD by distance learning/home study, the authors of UK Vet have devised a voluntary, self-assessment scheme, based on a series of multiple choice questions and answers, taken from peer reviewed articles that appear in UK Vet Companion Animal. The MCQs are divided into different subject areas. Readers are invited to answer the MCQs on the subjects of their choice. The answers appear below for readers to mark themselves. UK Vet - Vol 12 No 1 January 2007

The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recommends that every practising veterinary surgeon, whether in full time or part time employment, carriesout a minimum of 35 hours of CPD per year. To facilitate the self-regulation of this, the RCVS issued members with a CPD Recording Card in July 1997.

The 35 hours can be made up by attending lectures, conferences, giving talks, as well as by 10 hours of distance learning and home study.

To encourage CPD by distance learning/home study, the authors of UK Vet have devised a voluntary, self-assessment scheme, based on a series ofmultiple choice questions and answers, taken from peer reviewed articles that appear in UK Vet Companion Animal. The MCQs are divided into differentsubject areas. Readers are invited to answer the MCQs on the subjects of their choice. The answers appear below for readers to mark themselves. In theeditorial panel’s view, the percentage scored, should reflect the appropriate proportion of the total time spent reading the article, which can then berecorded on the RCVS, CPD recording form.
