Introduction

CPVC pipes have replaced steel pipes for sprinklers across world

successfully rendering trouble free service since 1986

Use in horizontal grid sprinkler piping in residential floors

Product is recommended by NFPA & approved by International codes

Bureau of Indian Standards has published code IS 16088Standard for CPVC pipe in fire extinguishing systems

Fire Test as per UL 1821

Fire reaches 760C (1,400F)

After approximately 1

minute, sprinkler head

activates

Pipe is in direct contact with

fire plume at 370C - 480C

(700F900F) for a total of

10 minutes

Fire Test

System inspected - no damageother than charring on the outside

surface

Inside Pipe Properties remain

unchanged

System then tested at 1,207 kPa

(175 psi) (12 Bar) for 5 minutes

Fire Endurance Test

IMO test requirements were :

pipe: 1 SR 13.5 (PN 16) Temperature from 900C to 1200C

flow rate ca. 32 l/min test was run for 30 min. without

leakage

stagnant water pressure for 30 min.

followed by hydrostatic pressure test of 4.2 bar for 5 min.

Not suitable for basement

Cannot be used in risers

Upto 3 maximum diameter

Not LISTED for outdoor applications

Used in sprinkler heads rated at 107C or lower

Pipe & Fittings Standards

Pipe produced in SDR 13.5 dimensions

Pipe manufactured per ASTM F442/ IS:16088

Fittings are Schedule 40 for to 1 and Schedule 80 for 1 to 3

Fittings manufactured per ASTM F437, F438, F439 or F1970 Pipe and fittings are available from 3/4 to 3 (20 mm to 80 mm) in size

A full line of solvent weld fittings and transitions fittings

Acceptance by various CFOs but cannot provide blanket approval

Developer has to propose upon which it will be studied by CFO

Ideal for projects where sprinklers are required in high rise
