SHOWS REGULATIONS

1. All classes are OPEN .

2. All vases may contain one or more cultivars within the classification allowed,

except where stated.

3. All exhibits to become the property of the Association.

4. Entry fee for each exhibit is free.

5. Each competitive entry is only accepted on distinct understanding that it has

been grown by the exhibitor. (Class Nos. 1-77 inclusive and classes 110-112)

Class 78 may be made with purchased items.

6. Entries accepted under one name only, entry forms must be completed in

full.

7. The decision of the judges will be final and they have the right to withhold any

prize should any exhibit not be of sufficient merit.

8. Protests or objections must be made within one hour of the official opening to

any member of the show committee together with a fee of 50p. The fee will be

refunded in the event of the protest or objection being upheld by the show

committee whose ruling shall be final.

9. Any exhibitor may take more than one prize in a class.

10. No exhibitor shall be allowed in the Show Room whilst judging is in

progress, unless acting as a steward.

11. All shows will be judged under National Rules where applicable.

12. In classes 35 & 36, the number exhibited of a particular kind should be the

same as in the individual class (e.g. Onions Red, 3 any variety).

13. Staging will be allowed from 10.30am to 2.25pm. No staging will be allowed

after 2.25pm.

14. Entries accepted up to 2.15pm on day of show.

15. Judging to commence at 2.30pm.

16. Doors open to the public at 6.30pm.

17. Blooms and produce will be auctioned at 8.00pm.

18. Prize Money and Shed Vouchers will be distributed at the Presentation Night on Thursday 6th November 2014.

19. Class points will be calculated on the basis of 1st - 5 points, 2nd - 3 points, 3rd - 1 point.

20. The committee reserve the right to substitute judges without notice i.e. in the case of illness etc.

21. Novice is a person who has not won a first prize in any recognised Vegetable, Chrysanthemum, Gladioli or Dahlia Show.

22. In the event of a tie for a special award then points for the most second and thirds likewise.

23. Any matter arising which has not been provided for in the foregoing rules shall be left to the discretion of the Committee whose decision shall be final.

24. Colley Gate Gardening Club accept no responsibility for the loss of property or damage of any exhibit, or to any person attending the show. All care will be taken to prevent any such accidents.

GIFT TABLE

A table will be provided for displaying gifts of any kind donated to the Society.

THE COLLEY GATE GARDENING CLUB

Membership

£4.00 per year per person

Meetings

Every first Thursday of the month, at Wilson Hall at 8.00 pm. Social events and lectures arranged throughout the season of February to November.

Trading Shed

On Car Park at Abbey Road Allotments B63 2HH Membership of The Gardening Club is required to purchase items from the shed. Compost, fertilizers, peat etc. Shed opens every Saturday afternoon 1.00 - 3.00 pm. Shed is closed all December.

Presentation Night

Thursday 6th November 2014, doors open 7.30pm start 8.00pm

Food and entertainment is provided.

Colley Gate Master Gardener Class

The entry must consist of a collection of:

2 types of vegetable

1 vase of 3 flowers

1 specimen bloom

1 Dish of Fruit

Rules are as follows:

The two types of vegetables should be taken from the following list of six. The quantity of each vegetable required for the collection is given in brackets and each type must consist on the same variety:

Stump Carrots (3),

Onions (3),

Large Exhibition Shallots (6),

Potatoes (3),

Runner Beans (6 pods),

Tomatoes (6).

No other foliage or accessories, except plates, sand, rings, will be allowed. Onion and Shallot tops may be tied using raffia.

The vase of flowers should consist of three flowers, only fresh, HOME-GROWN flowers can be used in the vase. No dried or silk flowers are allowed, the vase used will be supplied by the club.

The Specimen bloom can be any single bloom of Dahlia, Chrysanthemum or Gladioli, it should be presented in a vase, supplied by the club, no additional foliage is allowed.

Any number of any fruit is allowed in the dish.

Members class

The members class this year is growing Garlic

Members wishing to enter must purchase a 2 cloves, which will be available at the AGM.

Techniques and other advice will be given during the AGM.

Note it will be a specific variety and you will be expected to exhibit one bulb out of the two grown.
