It shall also comply with Indian Electricity Rules. In case of any conflict between requirements of the above, the more stringent requirement shall govern. In case of conflict between standards and specific requirement of the data sheet, the latter shall govern.

4. DESIGN BASIS: (please refer the data sheets, annexed)

4.1 Type of crane : EOT – Heavy duty Indoor type, Double girder, box type bridge construction, M7 duty.

4.8 Area Classified : Non-hazardous – Safe

1. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. The EOT crane shall include hoisting machine, long traverse / cross traverse, safety devices, electric controls, etc. to make the unit complete in all respects.

A) Platform Two full-length plat forms along the span of EOT crane & DSL maintenance cage for servicing LT machineries and LT wheels.

Platform shall have MS chequered plates of 5mm thick hand rails and toe guard. Sufficient walking space 1.5 metres in front of panel and 1 metre in front of LT gear box shall be provided for maintenance of shaft on long travel gear box side and in front of control panels.On the other side clear width of 750 mm be maintained and festoon / trailing trolleys for CT/Hoist supply cables to be provided inside the platform The DSL maintenance cage shall have access ladder hand rail, toe guard & chequered MS plates of 5mm thick with 1” rubber mat over the plate and comfortable space for at least two persons to work. Both end walkway along the end carriage bridging the girders with handrail.The handrails 1” dia MS/GI pipe shall be provided on both sides of crane on the platform and on end carriage to entire span and width of crane. The distance between handrails shall not be more than 300mm. The support for platform and handrails shall be made out of robust Angle iron at an interval of not more than 900mm.The wheelbase in the end carriage shall be preferably be not less than 1/5th of the span. The wheels shall be placed in the centre line of the end carriage so that the crane will run true and not cross bind and also should have minimum 15mm clearance all around

2. Two full length cat-walk platforms – (600mmX9000mm) (0.6mX90m) size with MS chequered plates and 1” pipe hand rails along the

Bay length of hangar on either side of gantry of EOT crane Long Traverse system to attend Gantry, rails andDSL system problems by maintenance staff. – Labour charges only to be quoted – Required material for fabrication will be provided by BEML

C) Approach ladders – staircase type with two landings (platforms) in either ends of hangar to enter into EOT crane cabin and gantry for operation and maintenance purpose. Labour charges only to be quoted – Required material for fabrication will be provided by BEML

Brakes Electro hydraulic thrustor brakes for all three motions working on 415 volts, 50 Hz, 3 Phase.

Long Travel Twin drive mechanism with horizontal gear box end carriage of appropriate quality steel fabricated and L-type bearing housing for wheels bearing. Specification make & number and dimension of bearings shall be made clear in the G.A. Drawing.

Gearboxes All gearboxes shall be totally enclosed of fabricated type helical gears in all stages except CT gearbox of vertical type which can have spur gear for II & III stage.The gear & pinion shall be of EN8/EN9/EN19/EN24 duly hardened. All input shaft shall have integral teeth.

Drive -Transmission Through flexible geared coupling.

Limit -Switches I. Hoist: a) Rotary geared limit switch for over hoisting and over lowering

limitations and also.b) Counter weight gravity type limit switch.

II Long travel / Cross travel: Two way Roller lever type limit switch on each.III Antidrag limit switches : 2 Nos. for each crane.Make : Strom craft / Speed-N-System / equivalent

Hook block Single shank ‘C’ type hook supported on thrust bearing for 360 degree free swivelling sheaves with suitable bearings, wire rope guard against slipping. The hook block shall be subjected to 100% over load test and certificate for the same shall be furnished (closed type hook block). Hook block shall be provided with safety latch. [Totally enclosed round type Hook block]

Bridge &End carriage Box type shall be made of suitable thickness plates, angles, channels

etc., with necessary diapragms and stiffners. The vibrations generated by lifting / unloading etc., shall be damped within 15 seconds (specified limits) as per latest IS and the deflection with 125% SWL shall be within specified limits (span / 900) mm as per latest IS and the same shall be taken care in design. All the welded joints shall be subjected to non destructive die penetration / radio graphic test for tension zone and conducting of such test shall be made clear in QAP.

Wheels All wheels have to be sorbitized to a hardness of 300 to 350 BHN to a depth of 10 to 15mm. The clear drawing of bearing housing and bearing description to be made clear in GA drawing. The wheels shall be 320mm dia with 22218E bearings.

Crab The crab frames shall be constructed from rolled steel and also there shall not be any gap for free fall of components and dripping of the oil. Also, there should be sufficient spacing available in ease of maintenance with antiskid chequered plate of 5mm thick and crab should be surrounded by hand rails for protection of personnel during maintenance.

Hoist Rope-Drum Hoist Rope Drum shall be made out of Mild Steel Barrel fixed on single shaft

run throughout the drum with left hand and right hand grooves. It shall be fitted with flexible steel wire rope with hemp core rope. The rope shall be firmly anchored on the barrel. The rope drum shall be provided with flanges on both ends to prevent slippage of wire rope. A rope guide shall be provided to avoid over lapping of wire rope on the drum, compensating pulleys may also be provided to ensure that the ropes do not foul the grooves while winding or unwinding. The transmission between the gear box and the hoist drum shall be made by means of flexible geared coupling to take care of axial and angular mis alignment. The grooves shall be sufficient size to grip the wire rope

properly. The factor of safety for hoist wire rope shall not be less than 8.0 or as per latest IS.

5.2 Rails : 45 kg/metre for bay length of 100 metres.

5.3 Control panel shall have weatherproof enclosure.

5.4 The EOT Crane shall be provided with Gong bell for alerting during movement from pendent/remote control.

5.5 Painting

All exposed un-machined / carbon steel parts shall receive,

1. A commercial blast surface preparation.2. Two primer coats of Zinc Chromate (25microns/coat).3. Two coats of enamel finish paint (25microns/coat) of golden yellow.

5.6 Radiographic tests shall be carried out by the vendor for all Butt weld joints under tension.

5.7 Anti Fall arrangement5.8 Anti Derail arrangements5.9 limit switches for all motions

6.0 VENDORS SCOPE OF SUPPLY

The following major items shall be supplied (but not limited to) along with necessary accessories.

6.1 E.O.T. Crane2. Drive machine with motor for the lift, long & cross traverse.

6.3 Safety gears

6.4 Terminal and final limit switches.

5. One set of complete maintenance tools

7. Erection & Commissioning of cranes

6.7(a) Approval by Inspector of Factory or the necessary statutory authorityapproved / authorized by Factory Inspector.

8. Any other accessories & equipment as required to make the crane complete forSafe and satisfactory operation.

6.8(a) Rails: 45 Kg/metre Rails – 100 Metres bay length.

6.8(b) DSL – 160 Amps Shrouded bus bar for 100 metres length with accessories.

8. Electric power provided with only one point of supply per crane at floor level, necessary incoming panel to receive supply shall be arranged by Vendor. Additional 200 Amps TP&N switch at both ends with necessary terminations shall be provided by the vendor.

7. ELECTRICAL

7.1 Technical Requirement

The scope includes supply, installation, testing & commissioning of 200 A [2 Nos] capacity TP&N switch with bus bar attachment to connect to main bus bar and connecting of cable and termination.100 Amps TP&N switch – 2 Nos., 1 No. at Bridge platform & 1 No. at Cabin.

The Control of EOT crane shall be:1. Pendent push button station movable on an independent track across the span length

with controls, indicator lamp and alarm push button & Remote control push button station.

2. Cabin control operation with provision for change over with interlocks.3. DSL maintenance cage with chequered plates and rubber mat.

Power SupplyForHoist and CT Track Trailing cable with heavy-duty cable carrier trolleys and chain

running on independent I section track with proper supports from bridge platform.

Drive & SpeedControl All motions through suitable capacity slip ring type induction motors totally

enclosed fan cooled S-4 duty, 300 starts per hour (M-7 duty). The speed control shall be through stainless steel punched grid type resistance boxes 10 minutes rating 4 steps for hoist & 3 steps for long travel and cross travel.

Control -Panels All Hoist, LT & CT motion shall be direct on reverse type Air break contactors

which are electrically interlocked for safety. The contactor, over load relays, timers, fuses, control transformer etc., shall be dust & vermin proof. Voltmeter with selector switch and ammeter, CT’s selector switch for individual motor current checking. Power supply indication lamp of clustered LED type for 3-phase+ power supply shall be provided on panel board.

Power -Cable Power cable for motor from panel and incoming from current collector to main

switch and to panel shall be Armoured XLPE/PVC multistrand copper cable of suitable size with end termination using flange type cable gland and solderless crimping type copper lugs.

Lighting –System Crane shall be provided with power supply for lighting from a suitable

transformer of appropriate capacity 415V/230V. Bridge girder lights 400 watts Metal halide / HPMV lamps 3 numbers, fittings mounted on antivibration mountings and hooked to chain to prevent falling and supply for this lighting transformer to be tapped from main control switch which inturn get power supply through a main switch and main DSL system & shall be controlled from pendent push button station.

Electrics The Electrics such as motors, contactors, protective relays, timers etc., shall be of BEML approved brands.

a. Motors SIEMENS, GEC / ALSTOM, NGEF, AEIb. Contactors SIEMENS ONLYc. Relays SIEMENS, L&T, BCH.d. Timers SIEMENS / BCH ONLY

7.1.1 The panel shall be of front wired with readily accessible terminal blocks for making connection to external equipment.

2. The trailing cable shall be with PVC/XLPE multistrand Copper cable of adequate capacity with suitable arrangement for clamping of the cable to the moving trolley.

7.2 Vendors scope includes (but not limited to)

1. Main power panel2. Motor for the drives3. Limit switches4. Cables, clamps, earthing and other materials5. Power and Control cables (XLPE type)6. Supply of special tool & tackles required for emergency operation.7. Supply & provision of two numbers or 50 x 5mm earth buses for EOT

required. As per IS:3043. 4 Nos. of Earth pits with pipe electrode as per IS, to be connected on all 4 sides for gantry in one hangar where 2 Nos. cranes will operate, as directed by Engineer-in-charge. (Including all Civil & Electrical works). For two gantries, 8 Earth pits with connections to Rail/Gantry.

8. Supply & erection of 200A capacity TP&N switches – 2 Nos., with BBT and connecting to main BBT with Tap off box (2 Nos.)

9. Pendent push button control station, movable on independent track & Remote control push button push button station.

8.0 ERECTION AND COMMISSIONING

8.1 Vendor shall carry out complete erection & commissioning of the equipment being supplied by the firm.

8.2 Vendor shall carry out the complete erection according to the agreed Programme. All the materials shall be moved from their place of storing into the plant by vendor, BEML will provide clear storage and erection space only.

8.3 Vendor shall provide all the necessary skilled / unskilled workmen and shall also depute experienced erection / commissioning engineer for supervision of the work. Welders employed by vendor shall be Class I welders and shall be acceptable to BEML / consultant.

8.4 Vendor shall provide all necessary equipment to execute and complete the work. These shall also include welding sets as well as equipment like megger, tong tester, ammeter, bell battery set etc. required for testing of electrical equipment / installation, welding sets and other equipment so brought with proper gate entries at BEML IP gate will be allowed to be taken back after satisfactory commissioning of EOT cranes.

5. All erection tools and tackles as and when required to suit the erection programme shall be provided by Vendor.

8.0 (A) CONSULTANT

Vendor (Manufacturer) is totally responsible for design, manufacture, stage wise inspection & supply of EOT crane to the required span and commissioning at site. However, BEML reserves right to appoint a third party for inspection and cross verification in case it is required. The vendor has to provide all facility for inspection by the consultant / third party inspector.

Vendor shall submit GA Drawings & Designs, calculations of Bridge Girder, End carriage, Gear boxes, Motors & Crab wheel and Wheel bearing hook block, Wire rope drum and wire rope duly approved by BEML approved consultant. Vendor shall take up production of the above items after getting clearance from BEML.

9.0 INSPECTION AND TESTING

9.1 Access to the manufacturing shop of vendor at all reasonable times shall be available to the BEML / Consultant.

2. Performance Testing as per IS:4666-1980 / 3177 / 807

10.0 GUARANTEE

Unless otherwise specified in General Purchase conditions regarding guarantee, the following shall govern:

10.1 Vendor shall guarantee that all materials used in the equipment are new and have been subjected to regular acceptance procedure and are free from any defect regarding quality, form and appearance.

10.2 The equipment and all the apparatus shall be guaranteed for design, raw materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months from the date of commissioning or 18 months

from the date of receipt at site, whichever is earlier. BEML / Consultant approval of Vendor, design will not relieve them of their responsibility from the satisfactory performance of such item.

3. All the equipment / items shall be capable of performing the duties specified in this specification without damage, distortion or failure of any component. Vendor shall repair and replace any at their own expenses for fulfilment of guarantee.

3. Use of hoisting machines and tackle including their attachments, anchorage and supports

Shall conform to the following:

(A) (i) These shall be of good mechanical construction, sound material and adequate strength and free from patent defects and shall be kept in good working condition and properly maintained.

(ii) Every rope used in hoisting or lowering materials or as a means of suspension shall be of durable quality and adequate strength, and free from defects.

(B) In case of every hoisting machine and of every chain hook, shackle swivel and pulley block used in hoisting, lowering or as means of suspension, safe working load shall be indicated appropriately. Every hoisting machine and all gear referred to above shall be plainly marked with safe working load. In case of a hoisting machine or a variable safe working load each safe working load and conditions under which it is applicable shall be clearly indicated. No part of any machine or any gear referred to above in the paragraph shall be loaded beyond safe working load except for the purpose of testing.

(C) In case of BEML's machine, safe working load shall be notified by the Engineer or his representative. Vendor shall notify safe working load of each machine to Engineer or his representative whenever he brings it to site of work and get it verified by him.

1. Motors, gearing, transmission, electric wiring and other dangerous parts of hoisting appliance shall be provided with efficient safeguards hoisting appliances shall be provided with such means as will reduce the risk of accident during descent of load to the minimum. Adequate precautions shall be taken to reduce to the minimum risk of any part of a suspended load becoming accidentally displaced. When workers are employed on electrical installations which are already energised, insulating mats, working apparel such as gloves, sleeves and boots, as may be necessary, shall be provided, workers shall not wear any rings, watches and carry keys or other material which are good conductors of electricity.

11. PACKING & FOWARDING

11.1 After the components are tested, all exposed machined surfaces shall be suitably protected / coated by approved type of easily removable protective compound.

2. Vendor shall ensure that the unmachined external CS surfaces are coated as per specification before packing.

11.3 All delicate components / instruments shall be packed separately with a proper tag marking.

11.4 Each unit shall be packed in a wooden case.

11.5 The Tag No. of the item shall be prominently painted on the unit.

12.0 DRAWINGS AND OTHER DATA REQUIRED

12.1 Vendor shall submit the drawings and documents in required number of copies to BEML / Consultant for approval, as per the schedule given below.

Vendor shall furnish the final record documents as listed above along with or immediately after the supply/despatch of the equipment. The reports and other documents shall be grouped for each equipment and all the documents shall be provided in a folder.

13.0 DEVIATIONS

The deviations shall be as discussed / agreed during Technical discussion.

14.0 BEML’S SCOPE OF WORK

2. Electrical power at 415 volts, 3 phase, 50 Hz, AC at a convenient location.

2. This crane is required to be installed at location indicated in this specification. The dimensions such as head room clearance, side clearance, exact span, bay length etc., has to be ascertained before taking up the crane design and manufacture. However, all dimension given in this Technical Specification are approximate and for reference only.

15 General terms & conditionsNOTE : AS THE PROPOSED CRANE IS FOR STORAGE SHED S-1. THE SPAN, SIDE CLEARANCES, HEIGHT OF LIFT ETC., TO BE CONFIRMED AFTER SITE VISIT BY FIRM BEFORE QUOTING/TAKING FOR MANUFACTURE OF NEW CRANE.

1. The firm shall depute qualified & skilled Engineers to attend the problems.2. The firm shall arrange all necessary tools needed for commissioning / servicing.3. The firm shall be ready to work on Sundays & general holidays if need arises.4. The firm shall take necessary pass for their employees to enter the factory

premises (work spot).5. The firm shall declare all their items that are returnable at our security and obtain

necessary pass.6. The firm shall arrange ESI & PF coverage to their employees / labourers if any

from their end and issue Photo identity cards with ESI/PF numbers.7. The firm shall indicate ESI numbers of all the labourers hired or employees in

advance in order to prepare work permit inside the factory.8. BEML will not have any kind of binding towards compensation in case of injury /

death to the firm’s employees while working in BEML premises or otherwise.9. The firm shall make its own arrangement for boarding & lodging. However, during

working hours within factory, they can avail our canteen facility at cost.10. BEML will not have any binding on damages or loss to the tools, meters etc.,

brought by the firm for commissioning purpose.11. The firm shall arrange general insurance to their equipment and tools wherever

necessary.12. The firm shall take safety permits for our Safety department wherever found

necessary and especially while working at heights, with chemicals, explosives and high voltage areas.

13. The firm shall arrange to bring their own safety gadgets.14. The firms personnel shall not carry any objectionable material like explosives, cell

phones, battery-operated instruments, weapons etc., knowingly or unknowingly.15. The employee of the firm shall follow general rules, regulations & disciplinary

instructions of the company.16. Factory working hours 7.00am to 3.00pm (1st shift) & 3.00pm to 11.00pm

(2nd shift).17. Legal jurisdiction Bangalore.18. Delivery of EOT crane should be at the earliest in case of Purhase Order.

EOTSP10TSIST

General terms & conditions1. The firm shall depute qualified & skilled Engineers to attend the problems.2. The firm shall arrange all necessary tools needed for commissioning / servicing.3. The firm shall be ready to work on Sundays & general holidays if need arises.4. The firm shall take necessary pass for their employees to enter the factory

premises (work spot).5. The firm shall declare all their items that are returnable at our security and obtain

necessary pass.

6. The firm shall arrange ESI & PF coverage to their employees / labourers if any from their end and issue Photo identity cards with ESI/PF numbers.

7. The firm shall indicate ESI numbers of all the labourers hired or employees in advance in order to prepare work permit inside the factory.

8. BEML will not have any kind of binding towards compensation in case of injury / death to the firm’s employees while working in BEML premises or otherwise.

9. The firm shall make its own arrangement for boarding & lodging. However, during working hours within factory, they can avail our canteen facility at cost.

10. BEML will not have any binding on damages or loss to the tools, meters etc., brought by the firm for commissioning purpose.

11. The firm shall arrange general insurance to their equipment and tools wherever necessary.

12. The firm shall take safety permits for our Safety department wherever found necessary and especially while working at heights, with chemicals, explosives and high voltage areas.

13. The firm shall arrange to bring their own safety gadgets.14. The firms personnel shall not carry any objectionable material like explosives, cell

phones, battery-operated instruments, weapons etc., knowingly or unknowingly.15. The employee of the firm shall follow general rules, regulations & disciplinary

instructions of the company.16. Factory working hours 7.00am to 3.00pm (1st shift) & 3.00pm to 11.00pm

(2nd shift).17. Legal jurisdiction Bangalore.
