OMG-MGM CRANES, part of the Bedeschi Group, is an Italian company specialized in the production and revamping of containers handling equipment since more than 100 years.

The company, spacilized in the energy and bridges, steel structures, lock gates, hydraulic, naval and hosting equipment production, was born in 1890. In the 1965 it starts to produce container handling equipment and water screen systems In 1970 IHI Corporation (Japan) provided OMG with the authorized licence for the conception and manufacturing of the first Ship to Shore in Felixstowe Port.

The Company’s product range includes ship to shore (STS) container cranes, rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, rail mounted gantry (RMG) cranes and other special material lifting equipment.The Company manages each step of the project execution from feasibility study to manufacturing, assembly, installation, start up and after sales assistance with many references also in revamping of existing machinery.OMG MGM builds and tests all the main key mechanical components of its cranes in its Italian workshop offering the latest technologies and facilities for the perfect machining and testing of these special items.

Limassol Port for Eurogate (Cyprus)OMG MGM, the Bedeschi Cranes BU, enjoys a wide installed base since many years, being part of the Group now the sales and design activity has been revitalized to a new standard of quality and innovation.This “new era” started with Eurogate (leading German terminal operator) taking over the Limassol/Cyprus terminal and awarding the supply of two brand new 23 rows STS together with the complete revamping of the existing terminal cranes to suit the actual needs of this new hub aiming to be one of the most active crossroads in the Mediterranean sea.

La Spezia Container Terminal (La Spezia - Italy)Two new 23-row ship to shore (STS) cranes successfully conceived and delivered from China to the La Spezia Container Terminal (LSCT). Customized design of the new equipment realized by OMG-MGM Cranes in order to meet the technical specification of the berth at the terminal. The weight of the new cranes is 1300 T (20% less than other equivalent 23 rows STS cranes installed) just 150 T more than the old ones. Main technical features: outreach 63.5 m, total lift 43 m, capacity under spreader 40T.

Cargo Handling Corporation Limited(Port Louis - Mauritius)No. 6 RTG’s shipped from Qingdao China to reach the final destination, CHCL Cargo Handling Corporation Limited, Port Louis - Mauritius Island. The machines are the result of a huge project conceived after the Joint Venture between OMG-MGM Cranes and HHMC (Qingdao Yard, CHINA). The latest generation RTG’s are provided with a full Siemens equipment designed by OMG-HHMC, dual speed genset for fuel savings, anti-sway system for optimal container control. Hoist speed 35/60 m/min, nominal load under spreader 41t.

Ship to Shore Cranes(Mauritius)Two STS quay cranes shipped fully erected from China to CHCL Cargo Handling Corporation Limited, Port Louis (Mauritius) including project design review, structural tests and Quality Control supervision during the manufacturing and assembly activities. STS Cranes equipped with fully AC regen system and semiautomatic cycle.

OMG-MGM CRANES can provide height and outreach increases, span change, replacement of old trolleys, renewal of electrical equipment, motors replacement, increasing cranes performances, by rebirthing the cranes for upgraded residual crane life and cost saving; your cranes or any kind of travelling cranes can be refurbished with upgraded capacity, better service, speeds, geometrical updating, duty classification and durability, saving on operation costs and maintenance of the apparatus, whilst improving productivity, safety and reliability. Renewal of the entire electrical equipment, including cabling, is provided by mechanical and electrical engineering team. OMG-MGM CRANES, has developed and uses a dedicated “lifting cage” to raise the crane. The equipment, designed and manufactured by OMG-MGM team, has been already used successfully many times on existing machines. The system is made by a dummy portal on steel frame, located over the lower sill beams and strand jacks for raising finalization: this equipment has the peculiarity to limit the civil works on the site area and doesn’t require the crane transfer, since the activities could be carried out directly on quay site during few weeks and without affecting the terminal operations.
