The next couple of weeks see two events taking place at opposite ends of the Crawshaw ‘learning journey’. On the 7th October we hold our Year 7 Parents’ Information Evening. This is a great opportunity to see how your child is settling in to the school and to find out how you can support them to make the very best of their time at Crawshaw. We want our students to feel supported and challenged to achieve the very best they can. The relationships and communication between home, the school and the student are an essential element of this success. On the 16th October students at the other end of the school, our Year 11s, start to think seriously about life after Key Stage 4. This is a big decision and we want to make sure that students have all the information they need to make the right decision for them. We look forward to seeing you at these events. Settling in and moving on..

The next couple of weeks see two events taking place at opposite ends of the Crawshaw ‘learning

journey’. On the 7th October we hold our Year 7 Parents’ Information Evening. This is a great

opportunity to see how your child is settling in to the school and to find out how you can support

them to make the very best of their time at Crawshaw. We want our students to feel supported and

challenged to achieve the very best they can. The relationships and communication between home,

the school and the student are an essential element of this success. On the 16th October students

at the other end of the school, our Year 11s, start to think seriously about life after Key Stage 4.

This is a big decision and we want to make sure that students have all the information they need to

make the right decision for them. We look forward to seeing you at these events.

POST 16 - GUINNESS WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT On 16th October Post 16 students will become part of an official Guinness World Record attempt! They will be taking part in the largest mass CPR training in a single day over multiple sites. The event which is run by the British Heart Foundation will see over 12000 students taking part in the event across the UK on 16th October. GOOD LUCK!!!

Tommy Schofield 8JR is a member of the Leeds Youth Parliament and has recently submitted a presentation to all form groups for discussion during tutor time. The presentation outlines 10 issues which include education, wages, law and mental health and our students have been asked to vote for their top 5. The most popular issues will be taken to the House of Commons where the MYPs will debate and agree which one they believe is the most important – the top issue will then be part of the campaign for the next year.

THAI BOXING—Scott Barber Y11: has been training for three years at the West Leeds Muay Thai Academy and holds two British titles; one at 51 kilos and one at 54 kilos which he won last weekend. Scott competes against boys his own age and older by weight and experience and puts his success down to hard work, training and diet. His next fight takes place in November and we look forward to hearing how it goes— good luck Scott! Scott’s ambition is to become world champion and also to compete for Commonwealth and European titles. We wish him every success in the future!

CRAWSHAW STUDENTS ‘TEE OFF’: Billy Potter, Greg

McKenzie (both Y9) and Josh Priestley (Y8) competed on behalf of the school this week at the Leeds Schools Golf Championships hosted by Cookridge Hall. The boys were great ambassadors for Crawshaw and represented the school excellently throughout the day and all look like continuing our legacy of producing great golfers. The standard was at an all time high, so challenging for the leaderboard was always going to be tough, but the experience gained by the team will stand them in good stead for future years.
