LAPONIA TREKKING EXPEDITION

Season 25 June – 25 September 2010Trekking tour in the 3 National parks Sarek, Padjelanta and Stora SjöfalletLaponia Area – 7 days wilderness tour

Most people think about the Laponia national park as total wilderness. Here are nearly no paths except tracks made of bear, elk and reindeer. Sami people's presence for thousands of years, has left nearly no evident marks in the landscape. The loss of trails and paths, makes Sarek a real challenge even for the advanced hiker. As there are no cabins in the area our accommodation will be in tents. In this area weather sets the standard for what you can do. And we rely on our knowledgeable guides to decide what is possible. In that way every day will be a new experience. Rugged mountain peaks or birch forests, with vegetation as thick as a tropical rain forest, weather will decide. In the program there is one spare day to do something spectacular, if the weather allows us. Sarek national park is known for it's dense population of big mammals such as elks, brown bear, wolverine and lynx. And the bird life is rich enough to ensure that you will spot some rare species. We will start walking with back-pack that will be around 50 lbs (25 kg) heavy, and we will walk in rugged terrain with a lot of up- and down hills. So this is an expedition for the advanced hiker. As this really is more like an expedition, guests shall be prepared to participate in setting up camps and cooking as well as helping the group in the way they are able to.
