THE BRIEF

Our clients run a very successful B&B in Kingswear and wanted to create the ultimate kitchen for meeting, greeting and entertaining their guests. Not only did it need to feel inviting and homely, but it had to be extremely functional ~ making it easy to prepare food for all their visitors. Features include two washing-up areas and lots of storage space for crockery, pots and pans. The beautiful river and sea views are complemented by Caramello granite worktops and light grey painted cupboards and drawers.

THE BRIEF

Designed for a newly completed extension, this kitchen, full of personality, typifies the Ashgrove approach. We listened carefully to the hopes and desires of our clients and working closely with them and their builders, created a kitchen that’s as functional as it is beautiful. The natural oak doors and drawers suit the country location, and introducing painted furniture adds a vibrancy and ties in the specially created splash-back behind the range cooker.

THE BRIEF

This contemporary kitchen, built in a modern house is full of creative ideas. The conical preparation area, the colour mix of greys, blacks and reds and high-gloss materials create an extremely clean-lined kitchen. There’s a huge array of storage available in this design, including wide drawer units for those awkward pots and pans, as well as easily-accessed, but hidden from view, under-counter shelving. A place for everything and everything in its place!

THE BRIEF

This is a great example of customer imagination, Ashgrove’s ability to follow a brief, and the skill of our designer and craftsmen. The unique location of this fine Arts and Crafts house, overlooking Dartmouth Harbour, is the perfect setting for this tour de force. From the hand-turned wooden posts, through the sensitive detailing on the doors, to the fleur-de-lys door handles (a common theme throughout the house), this was a labour of love.

THE BRIEF

The owners of this spacious kitchen wanted to show off their beautiful AGA, so we built the design around this central feature. The room benefits from a mix of fitted and free-standing furniture that helps create a homely space, perfect for entertaining friends and family. Using colours that compliment the AGA, painted and natural door finishes add an extra touch to the ‘Country Kitchen’ feel.

THE BRIEF

This innovative ‘beach house’ themed kitchen follows tried and tested styling methods. We wanted to offer simplicity in the design; however, we introduced some modern features into the traditional kitchen, and vice versa, just to give a few surprises! These included dovetailed wooden drawer boxes, and walnut veneers for the boat island unit, and a sink neatly arranged to replicate the cockpit of a boat.

THE BRIEF

Our client wanted this contemporary kitchen to be an inviting and sociable space for entertaining without guests getting in the way of the all important cooking. As well as state-of-the-art appliances, the kitchen has a totally integrated lighting system creating a wonderful atmosphere in the evenings which is accentuated by the use of glass

shelving. Innovative storage systems such as the Mondeo carousel unit provide plenty of usable space.

THE BRIEF

After completely renovating a derelict cottage near Budleigh Salterton our clients turned their attention to creating the most important room in their house ~ the kitchen. It was essential that this room was an inviting and enjoyable space for everyone when they got together at the family home. The thatched property lent itself naturally to the use of solid oak, with the addition of a painted island unit to soften the effect. We also designed and manufactured a unique oak mantle to frame the AGA.

THE BRIEF

This kitchen, built into a wonderful, light-filled space with high ceilings, enabled the owners and our designer to stretch their imaginations. The kitchen includes a host of practical and stylish features: a curved central island unit with plenty of space for casual dining, also incorporates a hob, storage and wine fridge; and tall and elegant cupboards integrating essential appliances. The subtle use of greys and whites is further enhanced by the tile flooring and quartz worktops.

THE BRIEF

This stunning kitchen takes pride of place in a beautiful, purpose-built house, based on 17th century oak frame architecture. The design of the kitchen had to flow around the exposed beams, which is echoed in the solid oak of the central unit. Oak is also used in the door and drawer handles to tie the design together. The house harks back to simpler times but this kitchen is fitted with all the latest technology, making cooking and entertaining a breeze.

Cappuccino and walnut in KINGSKERSWELL Space to entertain in NEWTON ABBOT

23

THE BRIEF

Our clients wanted to be able to create wonderful dishes for their friends and family ~ and entertain them at the same time! The original

kitchen was half the size and consisted of several smaller rooms so we combined them to make a much more inviting space. There’s a

separate utility room off the main kitchen ensuring the main kitchen is clutter free. Light colours for the flooring, worktops and walls, and

painted wood make the most of this light filled room.

THE BRIEF

This kitchen features high-gloss doors in a soft cappuccino cream. But what really makes this kitchen shine is the use of dark walnut on the exposed ends of the cabinets, plinth, and cornice; adding astunning contrast to the kitchen. Solid wood flooring brings this scheme together beautifully. There’s plenty of storage space in the floor-to-ceiling cupboards on the right-hand wall, and appliances are discreetly incorporated into the overall design.

Beautifully practical in UFFCULME 17th Century Farmhouse in HATHERLEIGH

25

THE BRIEF

It was a real privilege for Ashgrove to be entrusted with the design and build of this kitchen in a 17th century farmhouse near Hatherleigh, Devon. It was a true partnership between client and designer to ensure sensitivity to the history of this listed building.

A semi-fitted look, in keeping with the oak screen, exposed stonework and lime plaster was key to the character of this much

admired finished project. A specially-made chimney breast and oak mantel around a new range cooker complete the look.

THE BRIEF

Our client is very keen on getting creative in the kitchen and really loves to cook. The brief was simple: a kitchen that brings out the best in her cooking and a beautiful space for entertaining. Combining bespoke oak furniture and painted doors, we’ve also incorporated traditional dressers to house her collection of crockery and tableware. A solid oak dining table, built to be an integral part of the island unit, can be removed to create more space for entertaining guests when needed.

Warm Walnut in EXETER Delightful Dorset VICARAGE

27

THE BRIEF

This had to be a stylish kitchen for our couple returning from a life in Italy to a run down vicarage in the quintessentially English

county of Dorset. The challenge: to combine a dash of Italian design and intensity of light with typical English country features

like an Aga and a farmhouse sink. The use of quality materials such as Kashmir Yellow Granite work surfaces and travertine flooring

helped create the desired result.

THE BRIEF

Our client wanted their kitchen to naturally flow into their dining room to create an ‘open-plan’ feeling, perfect for accommodating a growing family. The warmth and richness of the walnut doors complemented the existing freestanding furniture. Granite worktops further enhance the atmosphere of quiet sophistication. Of particular note is the specially designed and manufactured illuminated shelving which brings a warm glow and focus to favourite kitchen glass-ware.

Small but beautifully formed in EBFORD Creating the right mix EXETER

29

THE BRIEF

This kitchen in an Edwardian property in the heart of Exeter, was designed in conjunction with a modern extension to the

house. The large glass windows overlooking the garden bathe the kitchen area in light, creating a real feeling of space, and bring the outside in. The colour of the units was chosen to complement not only the garden but also the large window frames. The stainless steel components and matching accessories add a feeling of modernity

to the kitchen, whilst the simplicity of the painted furniture is sympathetic to the period of the house.

THE BRIEF

The kitchen windows in this cottage overlook a beautiful and lovingly- kept cottage garden. The room is well-lit but careful planning was needed to maximise its narrow size whilst maintaining the natural light and views of the garden. The challenge was to make a long and narrow room into a haven for a keen cook. This was achieved by creating lots of storage space to keep clutter to a minimum and making the usable areas as ergonomic as possible. A galley kitchen with a difference!

Size isn't everything in BIDEFORD Contemporary twist in BRAMPFORD SPEKE

31

THE BRIEF

Our customer wanted to keep references to a traditional ‘country’ kitchen but was keen to incorporate contemporary themes and

ideas. “We wanted sleek lines and curves with no hard corners to create a welcoming and tactile feel which would be very family

friendly.” This theme is particularly well demonstrated in the central island unit. The curves also help to lead the eye through

the kitchen to the beautiful garden outside. The use of walnut and oak create a contrast of light and dark whilst the inlaid detailing adds an extra touch of hand-crafted quality to the overall effect.

THE BRIEF

Our newly-retired couple wanted to put down roots in this post-war dwelling in a Bideford village. Part of their plan meant turning their modest-sized kitchen into a relaxed environment for the creation of culinary delights, while also showing off some of their treasured collection of pottery. The focal point is a Britannia gas cooker with a favourite piece of artwork forming a backdrop to complete the simple layout.

Investing in a new kitchen should be an exciting, creative, and enjoyable process. Our aim is to ensure that it is. We listen to your ideas, work closely with you through all the stages, from design to completion, to ensure a completely successful project; a kitchen that you are truly proud of. The first step is to give us a call or come to see our showroom and workshops. Tell us your ideas, any thoughts on styles you like and your budget. We will then arrange for one of our experienced kitchen designers to visit you at home, at your convenience.

How we work with you

DESIGNING YOUR KITCHENThe first home visit will include taking detailed measurements, fully discussing your ideas, requirements and preferences. Our designers can help evolve your ideas considering both the function as well as the aesthetics of your new kitchen. Often ideas may come from your own home, such as a beautiful stained glass window in the hall which might be incorporated into a cupboard door. On agreeing the key points, an outline plan will be drawn up with a quotation. A further visit will be arranged to show you samples and illustrations of the initial concepts, design and materials. Any further amendments will be made until you are entirely satisfied. Only then will a final plan and detailed quotation be drawn up for your approval.

APPROVING THE DESIGNWhen you are completely satisfied with our proposal, we will send a letter of confirmation, discuss convenient dates for installment, and take an initial deposit. We arrange a final check survey by one of our professional fitters prior to placing the order with our workshops.

INSTALLATIONOur kitchen fitters are very experienced and it is their job to ensure that the installation takes place with as little inconvenience as possible, but naturally there will be some noise, dust and interruption to water, gas and electricity. We also offer ‘supply only’ to those customers who like to arrange their own fitting.

COMPLETIONWe will provide you with a general information pack for your new kitchen. However, our service doesn't stop here. If you have any questions, or an unforeseen problem arises, please give us a call and we will be there to assist. Then it’s all yours to enjoy.

“My husband and I wanted to say thank you for a job well done. Your close attention to fine points of detail in the finishing of our kitchen did not go unnoticed. We are delighted indeed with the finished result and would have no hesitation in recommending yourselves to our friends and visitors alike.”Mrs Williams, Exeter.
